We here at T.A.R.A. are addressing one of the greatest causes of animal suffering – pet overpopulation. Our mission is to reduce the numbers of unwanted cats and dogs coming into a system that cannot hold them. There are only two ways to do this; one is to up the killing rate, which has been done unsuccessfully for decades, and the other is to reduce the birth rate. We here at TARA have always opted for the latter.
Our desire is to promote the betterment of all animals that suffer due to the lack of proper care, nutrition, kindness, and the like. Spaying and neutering addresses the root cause; too many cats and dogs multiplying without enough good and lasting homes.
The mission we have taken is innovative. There are thousands of grassroots groups and not-for-profits that do animal rescue, TNR and placements. We, too, have done so ourselves, for many years. We found that the problem, with all of our good efforts, had only risen. We soon realized that spay/neuter was the way to go.
We know that spaying and neutering creates more homes, less suffering, less abandonment and less of a burden on the cost of caring for, feeding and housing unwanted dogs and cats. Many of the animals that drain the limited funds of municipalities, throughout the U.S., are doomed to be cramped into tiny cages and eventually euthanized at many public shelters, routinely. Their short lives of suffering and untimely deaths are a burden especially for those who pay with their lives due to no fault of their own. By spaying and neutering we reduce or eliminate this suffering and reduce costs immensely. Our low-cost services provide the best and most humane answer to the problem. We hope more will come aboard and that low-cost clinics and spay/neuter mobile units, such as ours, will pop up all over.
