Vet Center Program was established by Congress in 1979 in recognition of readjustment problems for Vietnam Veterans.
Department of Veteran Affairs: Readjustment Counseling services for Combat Veterans and their families. Services offered include:
Post Trauma Counseling involving :Anger,Irritability,Isolation, Alienation, Nightmares,Intrusive thoughts, Hyper-Alertness,Startle Reactions,Substance Abuse, Depression, Guilt,Emotional Numbness, intolerance to crowds, Trust Issues.
Military Sexual Trauma Counseling for veterans male and female: Providing assessment and treatment to veterans who experienced sexual assaults / harassment in the military.
Bereavement Counseling : Counseling to parents, spouses and children of Armed Forces personnel, to include Reservist and National Guard who died while in the service to their country.

Vet Center Call Center 877-WAR-VETS (927-8387)
1-877-WAR-VETS is an around the clock confidential call center where combat Veterans and their families can call to talk about their military experience or any other issue they are facing in their readjustment to civilian life. The staff is comprised of combat Veterans from several eras as well as families members of combat Veterans. This benefit is prepaid through the Veteran’s military service.
