We had a bit of an odd experience looking for an engagement ring here. The two women who helped us were very knowledgeable and friendly and showed us tons of rings, but a few strange things happened. First of all we arrived a few minutes after their posted opening time but they hadn't finished putting the rings in the cases yet so we had to wait outside for a few minutes. No big deal, they were apologetic. Once we got in and I started describing what I was looking for I was instantly corrected saying that I was referencing the wrong period. I know these ladies are experts and I'm sure I was off but it felt a little degrading to instantly be told I was wrong and implied that I didn't actually know what I wanted. I told them period didn't matter as long as it had the design elements I wanted. As we were looking at rings we were only allowed to have 2 out of the case at a time, which made it difficult to compare. They kept saying this was because insurance, which I understand, but even after we caught on and stopped asking they still kept blaming insurance for different things. They must've said the word "insurance" over 20 times during the course of 30 minutes.  Other than than that the experience was good. The prices were very reasonable and some of the pieces were absolutely beautiful. We decided to go somewhere else only because I already had a diamond and they didn't carry any settings without the center-stone in place. It was important for me to be able to use my mother's diamond.

Such a nice small shop, beautiful antique jewelry, and great people to help you. The only negative is the parking....but I always seem to find a place, even if a long walk.

Love, love, love my engagement ring from Antoinette's. We worked directly with the owner herself (is her name Antoinette??) and she was absolutely amazing. My fiancee went and looked first, then I went with my future mother in law. What we both picked out was widely different, so she took me through her process, which is to select three rings in the price range, pick one, and move on to another three. I vaguely knew what I wanted (art deco, 1920s..) but going through this process gave me the guidance I needed to narrow it down but also made me feel like I picked them out on my own accord, versus someone just handing me one that fit the description. The owner was kind, unpretentious, patient. She made me feel what I should feel; excited to pick out the ring and marry the man I love! Much better experience here than Gilt. While she doesn't have the bells and whistles gilt has (fancy, sexy ads, spot on Pearl), I felt much more comfortable here. She is a professional, a gemologist, and doesn't need the show to sell something. Cannot recommend this place enough.

My new favorite spot for vintage pieces. An amazing collection of rings and other treasures. Rachel and Antoinette are both so knowledgeable and helpful. Don't waste your time with the other "popular" vintage jewelry stores in Portland. This store has the best selection, their prices are unbeatable and the quality surpasses!
