Antonia's, located on historic Churton street in Hillsborough NC, is an upscale Italian eatery offering traditional fare using fresh and local ingredients.
Antonia’s Restaurant is named after a popular restaurant in Key West, Florida that Claudia Salvadore, Antonia Berto and Phillip Smith owned and operated for 24 years. Claudia Salvadore is a Hillsborough resident and has been a longtime manager with Weaver Street Market Cooperative at its location in Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. Her experience also includes managing the deli at A Southern Season in Chapel Hill. Husband and wife team Antonia Berto and Phillip Smith have been managing and cooking together for over 20 years.
“When we left Key West and the Restaurant business to move to North Carolina and Washington DC we planned to get back together and open another restaurant once our kids were grown and independent. That day has come: Antonia’s Restaurant will be a fun, easy affordable place where good traditional Italian food will be served in a friendly and professional atmosphere. Great food prepared daily with fresh seasonal ingredients. Local beers on tap, old world and new world wines will make up our lunch and dinner menu. We want to be the place where friends and neighbors are welcome.”
“We are very excited about opening in Hillsborough: we will be doing what we love the most, while being part of a vibrant and diverse community!”
