The Athena is a Mansfield tradition! It's a Mom and Pop diner specializing in Greek food. Although not owned by the original family, the recipes and service are still uniformly excellent. I ordered the Super Gyro pictured below. It's a generous portion, quickly prepared. It was $7.69 for the gyro-- a quick, cheap, filling and not-horrible-for-you lunch. If you're feeling the need for a sugar buzz, the home made baklava is the cure for your sweet tooth. I HIGHLY recommend Athena Greek Restaurant if you're ever around downtown Mansfield. Keep up the good work!
We found this sweet secret of a cafe while visiting the Ohio State Reformatory, the prison featured in the movie Shawshank Redemption. Our first “hello and welcome” was from a smiling George, the owner I think. He was as warm and inviting as his food was. The dishes we had were delicious, made with fresh ingredients and prepared with pride and efficiency. They were priced right and the service was great. We felt at home even though this was our first time to the area and at Athens. We highly recommend you come give them a try. I know we’ll be back.

This restaurant was phenomenal! The owner greeted us at the door. Very sweet and welcoming. We has the best falafel wraps I'd ever tasted. They were fresh and popped with flavor. This will definitely be a favorite place to dine in the future when we visit Mansfield. The service was awesome as well. Friendly and efficient staff.Food: 5/5

The owner and his daughter are wonderful friendly hosts. You can feel the love they put into the food. My favorite is the lentil soup- once I tried it it became my all time favorite food and I look forward to it each time I go in. The gyros are far superior to anywhere around! Food we have tried and loved are to many to name, but include the lamb dinner, ghessourous burger, falafel, combination plate, souvlaki, and baklava! You will not regret going!
My husband and I just had Athena’s for the first time and I was extremely impressed from the minute we got there till the end. The food was so authentic and incredible. I had the lamb gyro and my husband got the oven roasted lamb, we had the hummus as an appetizer. The owner even went out of his way to introduce himself and gave us a free dessert which was delicious! Very friendly staff and definitely will be going back and recommending to everyone I know.
Great spot for yummy Greek food in Mansfield! We tried two different soups, the lentil and vegetable beef and they were both so tasty. We also shared a lamb and chicken gyro and a greek salad. All really delicious. The service was excellent...we had the best server. She gave us good recommendations and was very personable and friendly.
Such a nice, hospitable little diner-style restaurant with lots of parking and delicious food served literally with a smile! The owner stopped to visit for a moment and is charming. We had a honey-drenched custard dessert galaktibourika? that is sublime. Try this place out, you won't regret it! Vegetarian options: There are a ton of vegetarian options in the appetizer section of the menu alone! The spanikopita and the tyropita are delicious!
This place has the most welcoming atmosphere! I have never felt so cared for at a place in my life. More importantly: the food is unbelievable. Fresh, filling, comforting.... *FILLING* ... Affordable, also. Definitely a place I would take an out-of-towner.
