Came across this gem yesterday during their soft opening. The staff is so attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered the red beans and rice and the portions were pretty large. I can’t wait to come back when they have their entire menu offered.
The reviews about poor wait staff is accurate, smiles and a good attitude go a long way. Also they still have bottles of alcohol from the previous business behind the old bar but they don't serve alcoholic drinks. When the appetizer came out the waitress took our drinks and never brought them back so we had to remind her. That's three stars down. We watched the chef make everything by hand through the window. The gator bites were delicious. My wife ordered seafood gumbo and I ordered the Nappy's pasta. I'm not big on seafood so my wife told me not to bother trying the gumbo yet she loved it. Sweet tea tasted a little off. As far as the food being bland I didn't think so, every thing we tried had good flavor with subtle hints of heat. The Tasso meat in the Nappy's pasta was especially delicious. Great food earned a star.
My family had been to this restaurant several times and said how good it is. It's nice to have a local Cajun place to go to now. All of the main dishes we had were amazing. The fried calamari was good but it's not what I prefer with the type of breading they used. I would not recommend the Strawberry Shortcake. It was a completely frozen cake. The server said that it's supposed to be frozen otherwise it would fall apart. It was the oddest dessert experience we've had in a long time. We wound up taking the cake home to let thaw since it was difficult to eat frozen. It was delicious but it's the pretty much the eaxct same cake we purchased at Kroger for cheaper but not frozen.
We stumbled across this place during their soft opening. I’m SO glad we did! Did the food take a little longer, yes. Was the waitstaff as attentive as they could have been? No. But the food ! The waitresses need to be sure they’re asking for drink orders when seating/greeting guests. They also need to remember to check in on tables for refills. Larger glasses would help them out here. But y’all. When I say this is the BEST Cajun pasta I have ever had, I’m not lying. I’ve been to Louisiana several times and love enjoying Cajun cuisine while I’m there. This beats anything else I’ve ever had. Well worth the wait!!! We will be back and I’m looking forward to this becoming a regular stop for us.
Wasn't greeted when I walked in. The lady at the counter was staring directly at me. I headed to the counter and asked what she would recommend she said pasta and seemed to have an attitude the whole 3-4mins I was there. There was no customers and it's Fat Tuesday!!! I wondered why this place was empty, now I know. Very rude and unprofessional customer service. I don't travel to this area often, but if the service was good Nappy's would've received at least $100 or more. As i stated it's Fat Tuesday and I wanted to try a # of items. I DON'T RECOMMEND NAPPY'S!! Save your money and go somewhere else. They're hiring for multiple positions, but after my experience I get why they are short handed. People are more selective with the jobs they apply for and pay attention to the behaviors of staff members they encounter.
Fantastic Cajun and Creole food. Friendly staff, family owned. Food was delicious and presented well on the plates. Inside atmosphere is done smartly. Wait staff are very knowledge about the menu and this place has the open kitchen concept in which you can watch the chefs prepare your food.
We came here because I saw fried catfish platter on their menu along with the spinach artichoke with crawfish dip for appetizer, and bread pudding that made me drool. We ordered the catfish but they were actually out of the app! Not a big deal as I will try to order it next time as we plan on returning! The service was great, the waitress was very thorough and took her time explain the menu and various items on menu as she asked if it was our first time there. We got the boudin balls and sausage gumbo. We thought the rice in the gumbo was slightly undercooked. The dip with the boudin balls paired quite well that we kept it for the catfish and oyster platter. We also ordered the shrimp, sausage jambalaya- very tasty and great Cajun flavor. The fries and hush puppies that came with the fried oyster and fried catfish- I couldn’t get enough of. The cornmeal on the catfish was on par, reminded me of my uncle’s recipe at the family poboy shop in MS back in the day. And look how huge that catfish is! I was also very excited to learn they have the real classic sausage style patty for their poboys which I do plan on getting next time. For dessert, we had the bread pudding and it had this raspberry sauce that was paired it perfectly. We said we would get it with ice cream next time. We had our eye on a few other items for our next round of visit. Have patience for your local places as most places everywhere are suffering from short staff; perhaps we lucked out with service and it didn’t seem like an issue when we were there. There were 4 other tables dining and several folks coming in to pick up to-go orders. All was great for our first time experience and the 3 ladies that seemed like family made sure we were good while we dined it. Kept our water full, checked in on us for ordering, when food came, and also when we had our dessert. This place is amazing. FYI we dined here on a Friday around 7pm and this was our experience. Just as they have on their wall- laissez le bon temps rouler!!
I stumbled upon this location by accident the other day. So, when I had time I came back to try it out. I didn’t take a photo of everything, but it all tasted delicious. In addition to the photos, we also ordered different gumbos, and desserts. The food was very flavorful and authentic tasting. I definitely recommend.
My family of 4 visited yesterday for dinner. The location is a local small business in our city and we love to support small business. We were excited about the menu that we saw online. When we first arrived, a young lady greeted us and asked if we would be dining in or take out. After we told her that we would be dining in, she told us the wait would be 30-45 minutes. My family agreed but we were immediately seated. The greeter was also our waitress named Chelsea, who was also the daughter of the owner/chef. I have to admit that I didn't receive the best impression from the greeting and interaction but I didn't let it bother me. The space was cozy and the decor was limited but the open kitchen made up for it. Once we were seated, we ordered our drinks. Chelsea did a great job at explaining the menu, which had marks beside the items that were available. For appetizers, we ordered fried calamari, corn lobster chowder and char grilled oysters. I have to say that the calamari was the best that I've ever had. Our kids loved it as well. The lobster corn chowder was less appetizing for me. It was water downed and missing lobster. Our chargrilled oysters were ok. The taste of hot sauce overpowered the taste. The oysters had no parmasean. For our main courses, the kids ordered 2 boil bags with crab legs, sausage, shrimp, half potatoes and corn. My husband had the Decatur catfish and I had the oyster po boy. The boils had limited food and unfortunately was overcooked. The kids were fine with it. My husband really enjoyed his food. I did try his catfish and it was in fact, great. My po boy lacked flavor and the oysters were small and made mainly of batter. Our check came and I noticed that our bill had a $22.50 "service charge added to our ticket. I was very disturbed after asking Chelsea about the charge. She told me at first that it was gratuity. Mind you, we only had 4 in our party. Then she told us that the computer does it automatically when a customers bill is over $100. I have worked in the service industry for over 15 years, so I know that what I'm being told, is not the truth. Chelsea had her dad, Nappy come to speak with us about the matter and he tried to tell me the same thing about his computer system. We were told that he can't take it off and that he can't even give discounts. Lol. I was just in shock. While I know that restaurants are struggling, it is NEVER ok to try to take advantage of your customers. I explained to Nappy that a sign should be posted or his servers should tell customers about the "service charge". While the food was decent, the fact that my family and I were blatantly taken advantage of, ruined this entire experience. We will never visit this establishment again and I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.
Date night for me and my wife. This restaurant was recommended by a friend. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this place. I don't normally speak with the chef, but I had to let him know how much we loved the food.Food: 5/5
