I love my local library. Great events for kids and adults all year long. Easy to request books from all over Mass. Tons of movies, music, books on tape, computer use, discount tickets to a variety of attractions all over the state. Thank you Auburn for having an incredible resource.

I came into the library today to check out a Harry Potter Audio book. I had previously checked out another book in this series and knew it was possible the audio book I was looking for was in the Children's section of the library-a staff member had told me that on a previous visit. I entered the children's area for a few minutes to find the audio book when I was approached by a library staff person(male) asking me first if I had a child with me-I said "no". Then he proceeded to tell me I was no allowed in the children's section without a child for the safety of the children. I looked around it was only him and I in this section at the time. I am no threat to a child and I was upset it was being implied that I was. After leaving the children's section I inspected the area in the front of the section as well as the front of the library and found no such policy visible. After looking on the formal website I was able to find this "children's room policy" under the policy and forms section of the website(not the homepage) stating you must have a child with you or ask permission to enter from a library staff member. I suggest that the library should have this policy clearly visible for visitors so they can avoid being treated poorly when coming in to check out a book. This experience has greatly affected my interest in returning to this library in the future.
