Austin Airport is a smaller International facility. When you deplane check the surroundings, you might be in San Francisco, California. It's the same off-beat irreverence; the same friendliness. This can't be Texas, but it is. Austin Airport, like the city it serves, is well maintained and very busy. Much remodeling is taking place. The airport gift shops are full of "Weard Austin" t-shirt and, of course, acoustic guitars.  Everything is wheelchair accessible. Lots of Texas BBQ is available.

Flew in and out of Austin-Bergstrom airport with ease. It doesn’t seem crowded or overly busy, though it serves a large metro area. Easy connections with ground transportation into the city center. Got our vacation to Texas off to a great start.

Found a nice place to wait that is outside of security (there isn't much -- if you come at night you're out of luck). The Skybar close to Southwest Airlines ticket counter in the mezzanine. It's a quiet place to have a drink and a bite to eat. I am a bit disappointed with  the late night facilities

We waited on the plane for nearly an hour for the airport ground crew to figure out how to operate the jet bridge! You don’t want to hear about the claustrophobic guy who nearly didn’t make it to the bathroom to vomit... AND then we waited another hour at customs for the airport baggage crew to figure out how to run the conveyor belt so we could get our luggage...that   We   Could   See,  but could not get to...  Really Austin?!

So cool in many ways but look closely and you'll see the dirt. Carpets are shameful! Restroom sanitation glossed over. Food areas are dirty.  Look close when sober you'll see this airport is BELOW standard in cleanliness. 

However it is a most convenient location for flights and all else beyond being clean is above average. People.are.so.nice.  Just wish somebody would clean...
