Came here after work with my co-workers. I love Avalon bread and buy it all of the time. As a restaurant however, I'm not loving it. The ingredients used were high quality and the dishes were inventive and fun, but everything I tasted was too salty. The hummus was even too salty. I brought an order of the mashed potato tacos home to my husband and he loved it. So I will try this place again but i will be careful what I order.

Overall, yes we enjoyed the place but the service was off and a few other issues annoyed me. It took over 20 minutes to get a simple glass of chardonnay at 2pm. The yummy tomato soup came, but no bread, not even a heel of bread. Oh, and if you want bread with your soup, that another charge. The lobster scramble was very good. The oxtail dip sandwich was ALL FAT, but they did graciously replace that and took it off the bill. The little shoestring potato fries are difficult to eat in a neat way...just a mess, especially if you want ketchup with your fries. The prices are, well, pricey. Although the server was clearly overwhelmed at 2pm, way after the lunch rush, she was very kind and considerate when we did see her.

I had the fried egg, avocado, and bacon sandwich, and it was really good. My wife got a chicken sandwich, and we both enjoyed it as well. The fries are shoestring fries, which I guess we had never had before. We weren't big fans of the fries, but I think it was that that type of fry just isn't our jam. What blew me away was the incredibly gracious response when they messed up part of the order. The food took a little bit longer than expected, but we didn't complain. When it came out, the chicken sandwich had cheese on it, though my wife had requested no cheese. The waiter took it back, and a few minutes later we were all square. A generous response would have been to give us a free desert, or MAYBE comp her meal. Instead they comped us our entire meal, completely on their own. The manager personally came out to tell us they were comping it. Then our server offered us desert after we let him know we were finished, even though he knew it would be comped as well. I have never had someone treat me that well. We were both floored. Very impressed with their customer service.

Live music on weekend evenings. Scrumptious dessert offerings with beer wine or Espresso choices make Avalon a great after dinner spot. Behind the counter service could be friendlier.

Huge supporter of this place. But I struggle to feel great because the dining service is very inexperienced and absent. I feel like I wait most of the time, for no apparent reason. I want to have better and more enjoyable experiences! This place is awesome, the dining staff are just following a poorly written script and not asking themselves "what makes great service?"
