This brick and mortar bookstore has a nice selection of books, magazines, games, and novelties. It's a great place to pick up gifts for literary people. There is an attempt to create a cozy atmosphere with the Starbucks Cafe, but the effect feels forced unlike the smaller and more charming bookstores. I've never felt comfortable enough to browse the stacks while sipping a drink. The piped in music is a little too loud and fast. Not very soothing. It's nice to still have a brick and mortar store to go to peruse books, but the lack of cozy welcome gives this store a 3 1/2 to 4 star review.

I like the layout of this Barnes and Noble. All locations are different but the location of the coffee shop on the first floor is great. Plenty of seating most nights and the staff in the coffee shop is always friendly.

Someone mentioned this place being pricey. I don't agree. The books are normally priced. If they want to visit a run down store or only shop online without seeing what they are getting that is another story.

This Torrance location is always a pleasant place to visit. I read my books electronically but I by most of them from Barnes and Noble while I am sitting in the coffee shop.

Majority of adults have a nice experience, but when you have children it's a different experience. I used to go there every week with my 3 children and we get followed every time. My 12 year old said they have asked her 3 times if she needed anything while looking at the kids books and was followed to the toy section by the same person and another who was on the computer while I was with my 2 young kids in the kids section. She kept saying no thank you. I was not asked but just was followed.  I feel that that is targeting young children to hurry up and make a purchase. We cannot have a great time looking and taking time to shop. I had to hurry and get my kids books and supplies everytime. Instead of following kids around who enjoy books they should worry about the young adults who come in with hoodies over there heads and zipped up hoodies that cover there faces and rude adults who leave the books on the floor and not put them back after they're there reading for a long time. No one ever told them they cannot loiter there. Barnes and Noble is a great company, but some have bad customer service. I shop at Amazon now, online.

Everyone in the family can find something to read. I was looking for a special edition of a magazine they sell, they didn't have it but they took my name and phone number and told me they would call me if they get it in. I browsed awhile and read a couple articles from one of my favorite mags. I saw several people doing the same thing I was doing. Most people are very pleasant to encounter there. The coffee smells good and the people watching is interesting...life was good there this Friday afternoon.

Great book store. Could spend hours there looking around or could just run in. Parking sometimes is hard because it's right by mall. The people that work there are very helpful.
