Beatrix is a neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and meeting place located in Chicago’s River North, Streeterville and Fulton Market neighborhoods. Contemporary, modern setting. The cocktails are delicious. Service is solid but the food and the entire experience is missing just a little something. The food is overall well executed but there might be too much sweetness in a sauce for the meat its paired with, for example (as was my case). Or the tables are not quite set up close enough for conversation - so it's just the little details that are lacking. Otherwise a nice experience.

Several gluten free and vegetarian options to choose from. I ordered the Chicken Bebe, and my server, Christopher, helped me select a wine pairing. I always double check before eating, even though I request gluten free. Christopher showed me the special order ticket they use for food allergies, and then checked again with the kitchen. My meal was delicious, the wine was good and the people watching was awesome. The food arrived much more quickly than I expected based on how busy it was. Definitely would come back here next time I'm in town. The brunch offerings looked amazing.

Lovely gluten free dining experience. Wait staff take gluten-free very seriously. I ordered fries both times I went and they were good, but not great. The potato salad devilled eggs were less tangy than I'd expected. I got the ginger sangria as well and it was quite nice. Would definitely stop by again if I was ever in Chicago.

Food was great as was the service. Went for a business meal and the atmosphere was modern, casual, and relaxed. Service was excellent although I would have appreciated a little more color commentary from the waiter when I asked about the dishes. Although that being said I went with his recommendation and ordered the Neatloaf and loved the combination of old school comfort food with a modern twist of turkey, sweet potatoes, and kale. The asparagus soup was also equally fantastic.

The first time I came to Beatrix, I actually had a gift card to burn. I didn't think I was going to be this excited about my food. The atmosphere is great, and not too busy on the weekend for brunch when I went. I had an Avocado Eggs Benedict from the specials menu which was really exceptional; unique and very well executed. My boyfriend had the Steak and Eggs, which also turned out amazing. The eggs were fluffy and the steak was so simple but so delicious. If I had more space in my stomach I would have definitely hit up their dessert menu too!
