Better Valu is a subset of IGA supermarkets. It's a pretty decent grocery store. 

Pros
1. Creates jobs for the teens in this area. Many of the employees I've seen working (minus the specialty departments like meat and deli) all look to be about high school age. I think this is a good thing! 
2. Their meat department is pretty nice. And they have some good specials on meats. 
3. They have some stuff you can't get anywhere else. For example, I have only found my favorite flavor of Gatorade here. 
4. They have a senior discount on certain days. 

Cons:
1. The building is really old and could use a face-lift inside and out. 
2. I have found expired products before that were taken care of right away when I pointed them out (big plus), but honestly shouldn't have been on the shelf at all. 

As someone who has worked retail and at a grocery store before, I would say that Better Valu is a decent quality supermarket.

I always enjoy the sales at better valu. Their meats are superior as is their produce. In fact, my sister who lives in middletown, always makes a stop on her way home.  I definitely would recommend better valu to local folks and visitors.

Great small grocery store. Somehow they often stock odd things that bigger stores don't.  Very good grinders at the deli too.
