Randy is friendly. He closed the shop and is doing bigger and better things now.

I'm riding coast to coast and the rough roads and carrying panniers had taken the life out of a set of gator sling tires. I had 2 flats just after entering Kansas from Colorado. Randy and Jeremy installed a pair of Armadillos on my trusty bike, Hidalgo. I feel confident that I will problem free for another 1300 miles or more! Great work from knowledgeable people.

I traveled to Garden City on Thursday, June 4, 2015 in advance of the 41st Biking Across Kansas event. I contacted owner Randy Bartel by Gmail a few days earlier to inquire whether he could reassemble my bicycle, as I had to take it apart to transport it via Greyhound bus. Mr. Bartel was quick to reply and candid about the prospect of his team servicing my bike Thursday or Friday because of his full slate of customer appointments and anticipated walk-in traffic because of BAK2015. He put the chances of fitting me into his schedule at no better than 50-50. Nevertheless, I arrived outside his shop more than an hour before he opened his store Thursday morning prepared to leave my bike with him through Friday evening on the off-chance he could put it back together. To my great joy and thorough satisfaction, Mr. Bartel welcomed me into his shop and began working on my bike immediately. I left to explore downtown Garden City on foot and by the time I returned he had completely reassembled my bike, making all the necessary adjustments it would require for me to ride it on the 500+ mile journey across Kansas. His work was superior to other bike shops I had visited prior to leaving Denver. He secured the seat post, reattached the pedals, affixed the handlebar and front fork, adjusted the wheels and serviced the brakes and derailleurs. He even added an end cap to the rear derailleur cable--which had come off--something a Denver shop had overlooked. He also advised me to replace my front derailleur, as he was concerned about the clearance between it and the chain. He did all this work for a more than reasonable price. I had zero mechanical issues with my bike throughout my nine-day trek across Kansas. I attribute this in no small part to the work Mr. Bartel did to make my bike ready for the adventure. The people of Garden City and the entire southwest Kansas region are fortunate to have such a professional available to service their bicycles. Mr. Bartel's shop is clean and well-stocked with all the necessary parts people would require to get them back on the road. He has both entry-level and high-end bikes in his inventory. Mr. Bartel is friendly and professional. He always responded promptly to any correspondence I sent him and gave me prudent advice about making the most of my bike. I wish I had the occasion to visit his shop regularly. I hope others will partake of his professional service, as I can't imagine they'll be disappointed by the experience. When I'm next in Garden City with my bicycle, I will be sure to patronize Mr. Bartel's shop again and thank him for his great work.

So knowledgeable and helpful; solved my son's constant flat tire problem. Wonderful, fast service. We are so lucky to have the Bike Rack in GC. Thanks!

Was touring eastbound and camped about 12 miles east of Garden City. Do not know why, spokes looked good, but I checked them in the morning and found one, drive side of course, broken inside the nipple. Carefully rode back to GC and waited till the shop opened. They were fairly busy that day, but attended to me. They let me drop my 40 pounds of panniers in the back room and I checked out the town. A little less than five hours later they called, as the bike was ready. I do not remember what they charged me, but it was so fair I left a 'tip' for their great help. Folks there could not have been more accommodating, and they did a nice job for me. They followed the creed of helping the active cyclist.
