Story

The world's first KOA invites you to its lovely setting along the Yellowstone River. Admire the soothing view from the campground's spacious landscaped patio sites. Along with handling even the largest RVs, these luxurious sites feature full hookups, cable TV, fire rings, umbrella tables and even porch swings! Head over to Pistol Pete's Outdoor BBQ in summer for a tasty Western meal, then stop by the campground store to browse the Montana crafts. Stay connected to friends and family with free Wi-Fi. Of course, there's plenty of fishing, biking and hiking near the campground. History buffs will want to make the half-hour drive to Pompeys Pillar National Monument, where explorer William Clark carved his initials in 1806, and to the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, an hour's drive southeast. Come and stay in the new Deluxe Cabins!

This is a pricey campground, but it is KOA's headquarters and often full. They have a large variety of campsites and it is a busy place in the office. Best to reserve online and not by phone, since they are often too busy to answer or return calls. Nice trails and the river is easy to get to. Our last stay was in September 2017.

The campground was quiet at night, had decently cleaned facilities (had to notify staff of two bathrooms w/o TP though), the pool was nice. Mini golf was actually fun/challenging and NOT lame. :) The BBQ dinner was a bit overpriced, but still yummy. Overall, a nice, safe place to stay the night on our RV trip!

We loved the hot tub, pool, & miniature golf course. The staff was friendly. The grounds were clean. The pond was full of tadpoles & frogs, making it fun for the kids. The cabin was perfect with a little fire pit to roast marshmallows. Fun experience!!
