We just spent one amazing birthday weekend at the Black Dolphin Inn May 19-21. Our room was great. But the truly exceptional thing about this resort are the people. All the staff members of this family run establishment seem genuinely proud of their workplace, and go out of their ways to make the guests feel appreciated. We noticed that from our initial contact making a reservation, to the last day of our stay, we never heard the word "no" from any staff member. From special requests on the spectacular breakfast menu, to boat trailer parking, every single inquiry or request was met with either an outright "yes" or a satisfying workaround. Enough praise cannot be given to the breakfast chef! The breakfasts are amazing! The morning atmosphere in the lobby/dining area facilitates mingling among the guests. There is beautiful seaside patio dining and even dining on the dock! The dock is smallish, but easily accommodated our boat and another guest's. Brett advised us that the water to the dock was skinny. And coming back late night at very low tide we found it necessary to wade our boat to the dock. But, no worries! It wasn't until the next morning that I remembered how my shorts got wet! Overall, our stay was fantastic! Thanks you Brett, your family, and your entire staff!

The Black Dolphin beyond exceeded my expectations. The entire Inn is immaculately clean and decorated beautifully, and the room was spacious and full of natural light. Our balcony provided a phenomenal view of the water (yes, there really were dolphins at sunrise) as well as a gorgeous century oak the Inn has built around. Brett was an impeccable host and MacKenzie's breakfast will change your heart for the better. Loved every fleeting moment.

Rooms and lobby were very tastefully decorated. Staff was friendly. We enjoyed the private balcony and convenient location. Breakfast in the morning was hot and delicious.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at the Black Dolphin Inn. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The accommodations were spotless as were all the public areas and the grounds. Their executive chef, MacKenzie Smith, creates delicious cooked-to-order breakfasts too!We highly recommend the Black Dolphin Inn.

This place was seriously AMAZING! We went to Daytona Beach for our honeymoon (I wanted to be at the ocean shore no matter what!:)) but my husband didn't like our Beach side hotel much (I thought it was fine) and said that at least for our last night we need a great luxurious place, preferably 5*. I felt neutral about the idea but agreed. And we found Black Dolphin, a little further and 4* but seemingly the best in the area. I didn't know what I was missing out on! Everything, literally EVERY single thing in this place is GREAT - the building itself outside and inside (which has a distinct Italian/Spanish vibe), the room (big and modern, with top notch facilities and 2(!) balconies), the service (super friendly, responsive, accommodating, family-like), the breakfast (oh my god, breakfast was worth a high-end restaurant), the outside (string lights, fire pit with comfy chairs, the docks where you can also sit at night) The owners were super welcoming and warm. I recommend Black Dolphin to anyone who likes comfort, beauty, good food for breakfast, very friendly service with the vibe of a little European B&B.
