Black Woods is the local spot for people looking for good food, good drinks, and a nice atmosphere -- not too stuffy, not too casual. The service is usually top of the line, and they have great appetizers and happy hour specials. If you're going up the North Shore, it's a great place to stop in Duluth or Two Harbors (they have a nice patio in Two Harbors if the weather is cooperating).

My husband and I stopped in quickly for dessert. There was a wait so we grabbed a table in the bar. It took awhile for the waitress to come (it was a little busy) and we ordered as soon as she came over. We both ordered the strawberry rhubarb crumble and then waited for 40 minutes for it come to the table. A little bit disappointing but we had time and we were relaxed. The worst part was eating it. The crumble on top was thin and soggy. The rest was thin and soupy with huge chunks of hard rhubarb. We couldn't even finish it. Kind of a bummer but what made up for it all was that the waitress felt bad that we had waited so long that she told us that our bill was on the house. A good thing too because the dessert wasn't worth paying for. We might be back to try food from the menu.....

Some of the better food in Duluth, good service and drinks as well. Pricey however, but worth it. The whitefish and burgers are excellent.

Large portions! Great flatbread and beet salad. But the real star of the show was the key lime cheesecake :) thanks for delivery and making it easy!

Being someone who moved to the US from Denmark, and lived in Germany before that, I do enjoy a really good schnitzel but am hesitant in ordering them from restaurants as they always lets my hopes in the dust. However, I ordered the schnitzel this evening and it was the best schnitzel I've ever had in a restaurant so far! I would highly recommend it. In addition, our waitress was fantastic and we loved how the manager on duty tonight playfully jested with us about my Dallas Stars sweater. Thank you for a lovely experience!
