Wonderful place! We sat at a high top in the bar area and had great service. Our entrees were delivered 10 minutes after ordering. We had also ordered an appetizer. It did not come out before our food, so they took it off of our bill. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and very fresh. I'd highly recommend!

Tavern on the Hill is a combo neighborhood bar and family restaurant. We went there to eat dinner so didn't sit at the bar area. The staff was very kind and polite. Service was swift and accurate, and drinks were kept refilled. The menu was basic American food focused on beef with a couple flares to bison and local lake fish. I chose the Bison Pot Pie, my son had the local mac and cheese, and my wife had a cheeseburger. All the entrees came together and service seemed reasonably timed. The Bison Pot Pie was tasty and came with a spear of French bread and a small 2 oz cup of cranberry chutney. The pastry crust was nice and the ingredients in the pot pie were as expected- meat, potatoes, and a smattering of vegetables. My bison pot pie came only warm, not hot so it was disappointing for that single reason. It surprises me how this happens at a restaurant, since cooked food is always 100% better when served hot. I believe the other items were hot and that must have meant that my meal was cooling while the others finished to bring the meals to the tables. That unfortunate bit of timing left my meal experience wanting, while the others seemed to enjoy their fare. Overall this restaurant feels like a local version of Marie Calendars, with perhaps a nice bar. That said, I'd definitely return to try something else, but might mention my wish to have the food ensured to be hot. The staff was great and the overall rating can only go up for this place. My current rating obviously suffers from a single misfortune related to the warmth of my entree.

Very disappointed! Service was very slow, in the "quite area", it was very hard to talk across the table. I ordered a very little pink hamburger and it was dry and crispy and very well done. I also had the sweet potatoe fries that had no flavor and were not hot. I ate only half of the hamburger and just took the rest home for our dog!! Will think twice before going back!! Everyone else ordered the steak dip and thought it was good except for the sweet potatoes fries. I can go to a fast food place and at least get a hamburger that I can eat and cost a lot Less! The restaurant was very cool and clean. The waitress was very nice but over stressed. They need more help on the weekends in the bar and the restaurant!!

This is a fantastic place. The food is okay, the ambience is delightful and the staff really do well. It is a great place to sit and enjoy a chat with a friend. Not too loud, not too quiet. Just right.

Server was a good guy but forgot a thing or two. But there were like 20 of us so I'm not mad at all. The chicken on my sandwich was pretty dry on one side and the fries were too wet, but that was just my plate. Everyone else's looked great.
