Quintessential Southern Diner... Closes at 1:45PM so get here early. Huge portions and lovely southern waitresses. Who will refer to you as "Honey". Great place... Very busy... And you will probably wait in line. One of the first I think he that you see is a photo of President and Laura Bush dining there. Save room for the world famous pie.

Great home cooked meal. I enjoyed breakfast. Even with a line almost out the door when I arrived, everything moved rather quickly. From seated to served and payed. Portions were large. You can only pay with cash. But they have an ATM on site. So, bring greenbacks or pay a fee to use machine.

We went on a Sunday morning. The line was long but the food was served rather quickly. The meals were tasty, but the only thing that came out hot was the catfish. The waitress never came back to refill drinks due the extreme busyness of the place, I'm sure. This place has a country and homey feel, great for families.

A Texas icon that doesn't disappoint. They serve up simple homestyle meals and meringue pies as high as a debutante's hairdo. Breakfast all day and this place does get busy. I tried the coconut creme pie and the German chocolate pie. Both excellent choices. Served by the slice or take a whole one to go.. (You will) The crowd is mixed but generally on the older side. Of you're looking for infused, deconstructed, foraged or anything of the like this ain't your place..... If you want gravy and hefty helpings...swing on by they have you covered..

The wait in line was a short one and we were greeted by a cheerful woman who seated us and then immediately another cheerful lady took our drink order. She was back with our drinks rather quickly and took our food order. We were given a basket of bread rolls and corn bread and it tasted like your grandmother used to make it! None of that "out of the box" stuff. The place was packed full of customers so we expected some sort of wait time on getting our meal but it came out in about seven minutes. I ordered the chicken fried steak with fried okra, carrots, and salad. My husband ordered the grilled hamburger steak with fries, okra, and salad and both meals were fantastic! We were too full to try any of their famous pies but certainly plan to on our next trip.
