Edit: Book Gallery West has done the right thing and corrected the issue I had with my shopping bags. It is nice to see they really do care about their customers and don't simply ignore problems like so many other small businesses. Based on their response, I have changed my review and will certainly return. Which is a relief, because this is my favorite used book store in town. *** I have been going to this bookstore since moving to Gainesville two years ago. This weekend, I went to trade in some books. They were short an employee and backed up, so they asked me to leave the books and wait for a phone call. No biggie. They took down my info, attached my name and info to the re-usable shopping bags I brought in with me, and I left. I got a call a couple of hours later and came back in. I used the trade in credit to purchase a couple of books, and asked for my reusable shopping bags. The employee behind the desk gave me a deer in the headlights look and told me she "didn't know I wanted them back" and had given one of my bags away to another customer. Of course, the bag that had been given away was a $12 tote bag I had purchased on a beach vacation. The cheap plain cloth bag was still there. I am shocked that any employee at a retail store would do something like this. It never occurred to me, when I was asked to leave the books there and come back, that I would need to specify that I wanted my property to be returned to me. So now, for my trouble of doing business here, I received $18 of store credit and have to go out and spend $10 to $12 dollars to replace the bag. No options for reimbursing me were offered. I received nothing but an anemic apology and the frankly ludicrous excuse that they did not know I would want my bags returned to me. If this situation is not rectified in some manner, I will cease doing business with this establishment. Which is unfortunate, because this used to be my go-to used bookstore in Gainesville.

A wonderful shopping experience full of Gainesville history.. Showcasing great books new or used, unique jewelry, exotic gifts & the most amazing fun inspiring cards for every occasion - including local art cards & books!!

Snobby person worked the counter went in. I asked it they carried any medical coding book and she scoffed and said , "uh we don't carry anything that old." I said oh ok cool I will just look around then. She snapped back quickly, "we close in 30 mins." Which was false btw. They closed in 45 minutes. Not really sure what earned me the rudeness. I just popped in to look around for 10 or 15 mins because the place looked so cute.

They had the book I wanted at the lowest price in town and reserved it for me! Nice staff, suggested other similar books for me. Really nice atmosphere in there
