Overall, I have liked this store until today. I wanted to buy a book in their marked down section downstairs. Their prices are hard to read. I brought the book upstairs to purchase. The guy rang it up and said the price was 106 dollars.. This is a used bookstore. This is absolutely ridiculous. The book was priced at abebooks for 51..

I have been going to The Book Shop since they first opened downtown. I have followed them to the Park Ridge locale, the owner believes in good books and never hesitates to recommend something wonderful in any genre. She is meticulious with her details, if you are looking for a book even if it is in their inventory, she will physically make sure it is on the shelf and call you back to let you know the availability. Her and her employes have always had impeccable manners. Instead of telling people what they want to hear, she tells them what is possible for them to deliver. I respect that.

When we walked in not one person said hi or offered assistance. The lady behind the counter was extremely crabby. I didn't see a price on one of her books and she rudely pointed out the ineligible scribble on the inside. She wants half priced for an obviously used book, are you kidding me? The binding was in horrible shape! I asked her if she had any chemistry books and she just pointed me in the direction, didn't even bother helping me find any. It seemed like more of a pain to her to ask where her merchandise is. I'd rather spend my money at S&S books on Cleveland Ave. That guy is nice and KNOWS HIS INVENTORY! can't believe this place hasn't gone under due to the lack of customer service and the extremely rude lady behind the counter. As I walked out I said thanks for the customer service and her response was, "do you want me to pick the book out for you?" NO I want you to help me find the section and I'll pick out the book!!! RUDE RUDE RUDE! We will NEVER be back and best believe word of mouth gets around quickly.
