(CBS 12) — Two Boynton Beach police officers avoided time in prison, as a federal judge sentenced the men on Tuesday, in a case connected to a beating following a pursuit. let inDapIF = true; "" style="box-sizing: border-box; width: 300px; height: 250px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: block;"> Sentencing called for prison time for both Officeguidelines a r Michael Brown and Sgt. Philip Antico— between 21 and 27 months for Brown, 15 to 21 months for Antico. No prison time for Boynton officers, convicted in excessive force case PALM BEACH Late last year a jury convicted Officer Brown of using excessive force— violating the civil rights of a passenger in the car, the subject of the beating. A different jury found Sgt. Antico guilty of obstruction of justice, related to his role helping officers change reports about the incident and sentenced the men on Tuesday, in a case connected to a beating following a pursuit. Sentencing guidelines called for prison time for both Officer Michael Brown and Sgt. Philip Antico— between 21 and 27 months for Brown, 15 to 21 months for Antico. But Judge Robin Rosenberg used her discretion and went below the recommendations, ordering both men to serve six months of house arrest, on an electronic monitor, as part of three years of probation. The case stemmed from Sheriff’s chopper video of a high-speed pursuit up I-95, in which these officers should have stopped the pursuit in the matter of public safety. They already had the license plate, a description of the driver as well a helicopter tracking the suspect. But no, these two officers felt the need to play the "fast and furious" with no regard for public safety. These two Boynton police officers chased a car that had hit and seriously injured another officer. Both men were convicted of felonies, which means they can no longer be cops for one thing but their lawyers are going to appeal these cases so they can get their jobs back. I say let them keep those felonies on their records for EVER!!!!!

The BBPD is a corrupt police department. They stole DVDs out of my truck after impounding my car in 2014.

Probably the most retarded and inbred white police officers in the whole state of Florida. They harrass and pull you over for nothing. Even if your on your bicycle! They try to tell you your a bad person or criminal for minor traffic offenses, but their whole department is always in the news for the wrong things and or has an open federal imvestigation going on against them! Hands down the most corrupt and pathetic police department in the great state of Florida.

I have nothing but respect for local law enforcement. Unfortunately, however, I have called the Boynton Beach Police Department twice in my lifetime, both for open-and-shut issues, that were never followed up upon. Whenever I call the Boynton Beach Police Department for follow up, the attitude is begrudging and resentful, bordering on abusive. It is a disservice to their reputation.
