I have seen a lot of negative reviews on Dr. Hitchcock but I have to say every time I've been hes been matter of fact and direct which I like I don't want to be coddled I want my dog to get better and I want to leave. My first experience was when our Chihuahua was in labor and she was bleeding out we lived by Wal-Mart on 351 and hit every vet on the way and not one vet would see her without cash in hand so we drove all the way across town and Dr. Hitchcock took her immediately and did a c section and didn't request money till the job was done and let us pay him out he also gave her all her shots and clipped her toe nails. We then took my other dog to be Neutered everything went great but when we got home Harley began to whimper and yelp even when petting his head I gave it a couple of days then decided Id take him back just in case well that little stinker goes prancing into the vet's office like he was on holiday. Dr Hitchcock chuckled told me I got played but still examined him clipped his toe nails and gave me some doggy ibuprofen just in case all for free. I've also taken my cat to him as well he is great with all animals I cant' thank him enough for all he does for my pets. My Chihuahua just randomly started dragging his back legs a few years ago and couldn't walk so we took him to Dr. Hitchcock and he gave him so meds to keep me relaxed in hopes hed get better then he called me later and told me hed spoken to an emergency vet and asked me to take him over there to get an exray mind you this was around 7 at night clearly he was closed. He then called me later that evening to check on Harley again and he called almost everyday for several weeks to check on my dog he In no way had to but he did. Harley is now completely back to normal.

Love Dr. Hitchcock, he has always been so helpful and wonderful with our dog William. I highly recommend him!

I called to ask if they would look at hedgehogs and that I had a concern with my hedgehog's respiratory health, the receptionist sounded a little hesitent at first but said yes and that they were open until 6, so I didn't have any reason to believe Dr Hitchcock had no experience with hedgehogs (he's listed as an exotic vet after all). So a day later, I bring my hedgehog, and his symptoms had pretty much gone away but I wanted a check up anyway, just like most pet owners would. The lobby was empty and most of the lights were off, so it was obvious he had plenty of time for me and I wasn't intruding. His tone was condensending and he was clueless about hedgehog behavior. He asked if my hedgehog's defensive huffing was sneezing, which it is not. He didn't pick up my hedgehog or closely examine him in any way, I had to pick him up and hold him near Dr Hitchcock's ear for him to even listen for respiratory problems. He made remarks like "Well they're odd pets to have.", "They're just hard to examine because of their behavior.", and "Well I don't know what to tell ya.". Also seemed annoyed that I brought him in for a non-emergency. I wasn't charged for this "check up" which is a plus. I would have been perfectly fine being told "Sorry, we don't have much experience with hedgehogs, but is it an emergency we might help you with?" or "Hold on a moment while I ask the vet." or even being flat out turned down when I showed up, but the exam was kind of a joke and a waste of both of our time. If a vet asked you if purring or hissing was normal for a cat, wouldn't you prefer to be sent elsewhere? He may he fine if you have some other specie of pet, but it's a little unprofessional to imply you can offer a service that you can't. I approached him saying I'd like a check up, not a dire situation. As a side note, their hours listed on google seem to be incorrect. They don't close in the middle of the day for 2 hours, since I was there around 12:30.
