Story

Burney's Bakery & Ice Cream Shop is a family owned business located in historic Southport. We specialize in plain and filled glazed croissants made fresh everyday, as well as our customer favorite 15 layer cake. We offer a huge selection of cakes, pies, cupcakes and 16 flavors of Hershey's ice cream. Our sweets don't end there... we make apple fritters, brownies, donuts, cupcakes, cakes, pies, and muffins. Need coffee? We've got it! Smoothies and milkshakes too! Stop in and check us out, your sweet tooth won't be disappointed!

I stopped by to get an iced coffee, and the younger girl working there acted like she did not care about her job. I went to pay for my drink, which came to $2.55. The woman working the register informed me that there's a $10 minimum for cards or a 50¢ convenience fee. This was slightly annoying, but not that big of a deal. Until the younger girl went to make my iced coffee. She came up to me holding a cup of hot coffee and asked if I wanted cream and sugar in my coffee. I informed her that I could do it myself after I got my drink (I do mine by taste, not by number of creamer and sugar pockets, which is all they had). She then took an empty clear cup to the back and came back out a couple minutes later with the cup full of ice. To make my iced coffee, she poured the hot coffee over the cup of ice. So I paid over $3 for a water down cup of room temp coffee. Not worth it. Their pastries smelled fantastic, but if you want coffee, you're much better off going to the Flying Pig on Oak Island. You'll get more bang for your buck, better drinks, and much better service.

Good ice cream in lots of varieties and yummy baked goods. The scones are delicious. Plenty of seating is available.

I can't put into words how awesome the crossiants were. They were so good I almost cried....so light and flaky and the filling was out of this world. Good thing I am just passing thru and am not a resident or I would be there alot.

They have some of the best pastries I've ever had. They are fast and friendly and they deserve their five stars I gave them. It's hard to find places like this in the world anymore.

Fantastic pastries. Stuffed croissants were full of gooey goodness. Reasonably priced for what you get unlike most places in the area. Better have a sweet tooth before you come!
