Honestly this is a great place for little kids. My boyfriend and I came from out of town and we’re disappointed. Most of the tanks were very similar, the staff at the front desk just stood their talking and were not helpful when arriving. The touch tank with the sharks and stingray was too deep for kids to be touching them. I understand it’s their habitat and that’s why it’s that depth, but children should not be touching something that deep where there is a big sign with warning signs. I would come again if it was free but this was DEFINITELY not worth the $20 to get in. I understand it’s for funding and educational purposes but from a tourist perspective they should invest that money into better guides and exhibits for all ages.

The butterfly house is a great place to escape the winter blues. The place is small, but a must see! There are a large quantity and variety of butterflies and you can even pet sting rays! A fun place to take children of all ages.

Butterfly garden was absolutely beautiful with a variety of butterflies. The aquarium was fairly small but had two touch tanks.

Really great place to bring your kids. The lady we had today at the animal touch tank was awesome. Very friendly and did an excellent job describing the different animals to people and wasn't afraid to step away from the tank when it wasn't busy to talk about the animals in the different tanks. She was really great with the kids as well. On the flip side I wished the two ladies at the Sting Ray and Shark petting tank showed a little more interest in their job as they mostly talked to each other and didn't really give much information on the animals in the tank unless specifically asked. They also seemed fairly unsure about some questions as well. The butterfly house was really nice. They had a really nice looking set up inside as well as handy cards to tell you what each butterfly was. The place overall was clean and family friendly.

The Butterfly House offers science exploration for all ages. Perfect place to come for any length of time. Amazing facility for Sioux Falls.
