Me being from another state. Going into a new environment. All I can say is. It was alright. I moved back to my old life. But all I can say is. I enjoyed it while it was good.

If you are not in the hisp program or on sports, you are nothing to the school. Also, if ur not in hisp, you will get a below average education. Many students i know who transfered schools to mcclatchy regretted it.To put it simply, STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL!

I have gone to McClatchy for four years. I'd like to say I had a fantastic four years, but I'd be lying. Only time I ever learned was my freshman and sophomore year when I was in the HISP Program. After i got out of the program I was thrust into classes with mediocre teachers who lack the passion and patience to teach students. Also, during my freshman and sophomore year, there was a strong administrative team. During my Junior year is when all different admin changed except for Mr. Lambert (principal). After the change in administration, things seemed to go down hill and it seemed as if McClatchy became a wild, chaotic zoo with admin running around the hallways like chickens with their heads cut off causing the teachers to seem overwhelmed, flustered and stressed out while students were in confusion at all the mess. I am not the only student and not the only person (teachers and parents) who can vouch for this. Sure, we have a few sports teams that excel but if you dont come here for the sports or the HISP Program you're either abandoned or harassed. I played a sport every year of high school, but due to injury I couldn't play my Senior year. My Junior year I could say I was basically abandoned by admin and teachers, with none of my input mattering at all to this school. The teachers can say and act as if they care about how students feel about certain things, but it's pretty obvious in their actions our opinions as students at the school mean little to nothing. It doesn't bother me our opinions and what was say don't matter to adults who think kids are "stupid" and unworthy of a say in what goes on. What bothers me is they act as if they care, when they don't. This year, my senior year, I am being harassed by admin and teachers. It can be that I'm joining the military (Marine Corps) and not contributing to the "great reputation of the plentiful students who go to prestigious colleges" or it may be something else, who knows? I sure don't. I'd like to add I finished my first semester of high school with a whopping 4.5, with a job, while training for the Marine Corps, along with many other disadvantages. And my weighted cumulative GPA is 3.8. Just putting that out there so you can get the image of the type of student I am. I applied to many prestigious colleges when I received the NROTC Scholarship (a full ride scholarship to any college of my choice to become an officer in the Marine Corps). Now, whenever any student from a sports team receives a scholarship they announce it to the entire school, and have a little signing thing for the athlete in front of everyone during lunch. When I received my scholarship, it seemed as if it didn't matter. NROTC is extremely difficult to get into. They pick the smartest, fittest, and hardworking out of the students applying to become a part of the worlds greatest fighting force, and I was among one of them. I wasn't acknowledged for this accomplishment at all. Maybe it's not as commendable as other students who play sports because it's the military (not highly valued at ckm) and "promotes violence". The teachers my junior and senior year would like to take credit for "teaching" me the material I aced every time , but I learned everything they're going over my freshman year in HISP!! So I will argue in favor for the HISP Program being a great program for learning but is not a diverse atmosphere in those classes. It is corrupt with cliques like the rest of the school, just with better learning and top priority. Me, being on sports teams AND in the HISP Program and then experiencing not being in them anymore, I can surely tell you there is much difference in your value as a student and a person if you are not in these cliques that bring in money and good reputation to this school. So if your looking for a school for your child to live out 4 years happily, you'd probably have more luck academically and socially, elsewhere. Unless you're trying to punish your child for 4 years. Send em there
