The Cactus Cafe & Lounge has been serving delicious food and drinks to Wall, SD since 1953. We are a family-owned and operated business that has been under new management since 2014. Our menu includes a wide variety of Mexican and American favorites, including our Indian taco, buffalo burger, chicken bacon ranch wrap, and our Thorny Macho Burger. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week. At the Cactus Cafe & Lounge we also have a full bar so you can enjoy a drink with friends during one of our happy hour specials, or so you can grab a drink to go with your dinner. Seriously not impressed at all! Waitress only came to our table 3 times(to take order, give food, and give bill) all over 20 minutes apart. They had no desert and we saw at least 5 groups of people walk out as there was basically no service. Food was not very good. Salad bar small. You could hardly understand the waitress and she was not very informed on food. I would never recommend this

I used to come to this café as a kid and loved it, so I returned to find it had turned into a bar, (which is what it is) except that after I ordered my food I smelled strong cigarette smoke. I turned around to find the cook and the waitress smoking in the kitchen while cooking my food, which is illegal. Would not recommend.

The place was dirty and the tablecloths and chairs were very sticky feeling. The place was buzzing with flies. All of the dinners our party ordered came with salads, but they were never mentioned by the waitress. Those who didn't specifically ask for them didn't get them. I watched our waitress make our salads from the open buffet bar and bring them to us. (You can order from the menu or eat at the buffet here. We chose menu because the buffet looked terrible.) She made our salads while bare-handed - no gloves or anything. I ordered mac & cheese for my little girl and when it came, it was just a smallish serving of boxed Kraft mac & cheese. Our food came much too quickly for it to have been cooked fresh. I ordered chicken strips and they came out dark brown. They had clearly been sitting under a lamp waiting for quite awhile. The fries were soggy. The water tasted like soap (at least that means that they washed the cups, maybe). We were offered no dipping sauces with our chicken strips and our waitress never checked on us until AFTER most of us were done eating, so asking for dipping sauce would have been a mute point. We sat directly under a doorbell that was mounted to the wall and would ring multiple times presumably when a waitress had food up - no discrete buzzers on belts for this place! The food was very overpriced for both the quantity AND quality we received, not to mention the almost nonexistent service. Although we were a party with several different, separate adults, we received our ticket all together. One ticket for us all. We had to flag the waitress down and ask for them to be separated. The toilet was full of paper with smudges on the seat. The whole place looked and felt dirty and sticky. We are probably all going to go home and die from food poisoning and general filth.

8-1-17 this is one of the best "hole in wall" bars in the U.S. Great drinks - great service - great hand made burgers - great bar! If you're coming for rally, or whatever else, it's worth it to stay in the town of  Wall for a night or two just to hang out with the locals, the fellow travelers, and the really cool bartenders. Greetings from Davenport Iowa guys! Thanks for making us feel like family! Cheers!

We stopped in Wall South Dakota after a week on the road headed to Badlands. The place is a bar a little worn but the service was more than good. The Bartender was also serving and was very attentive even though one could tell he was swamped. Food was the best we had on the road. Piping hot and perfectly cooked. Honestly by looking at the place we didn't expect anything special but my son was starving and we are very grateful for there hospitality.
