"We are a locally owned and operated pizzeria and sports bar. We are proud to be a favorite for locals to meet for fresh pizza, ice cold beer, wings, burgers, and pepperoni rolls. We also offer a variety of fine dining including steaks, shrimp scampi, and more. Our front dining area, established in 1934 is a great option to come in and relax with family and friends and enjoy great food. We decided to take a quick trip to Beckley for the evening and decided we were in the mood for pizza while we were down there. We found Calacino's after a quick Google search and decided to give them a try because their specialty pizzas looked great. The restaurant itself has a very good size parking lot, and a very cool entrance with the pizza oven right in front so you can see the pizza being made. The back room has a nice bar area and plenty of seating. Overall it seems to be a very cozy, chill location The food itself was great. We got an order of the Mac and Cheese bites appetizer, a chicken bacon ranch pizza, and a ranch pickle pizza. The Mac and Cheese bites had excellent flavor with a bit of spice, even being as small as they are. These are probably some of the best Mac and cheese bites I've had, as many places that make them they end up a bit bland, but these were great. Both pizzas were very good as well, the white sauce on both was creamy and flavorful and the toppings were well made. The crust is excellent, with a great flavor and texture on its own. We'll definitely try them again when we're in the area and try other things on the menu.
This is a legit sports bar. Got a giant projector plus tons of TVs playing the game. Pizza is good, but the crust is kinda weird - got an odd crunch to it, like they’re using cornflour or semolina on the bottom. Not bad, just weird. Typical beer you’d find at a sports bar is offered, though if you’re feeling ambitious they’ll fill up about a gallon of it into this weird contraption that I never got the name of. Real sense of community here - lots of locals. Everyone at the bar was ready to make conversation, and damn near everyone in the joint was vocal about the game that was being played. Pretty fun if you’re into that sort of thing. They had live music on the patio when we came. Overall left this place thinking “this is a damn good sports bar, wish we had something like it where I live”.
We were looking for brick oven pizza and found this local sports bar. The atmosphere was lively with trivia questions being answered. This must be a favorite local gathering spot as there were many teams engaged in the trivia game. We were delighted to have a very tasty well cooked pizza.
Pizza and service is good. We went after an exhausting day and the place is open till late, which worked out. One of the few restaurants we found to be open in the area. There’s loud/live music in another room but it didn’t bother much.
Wow! We attended a birthday party here and the service was superb. Food was so good and the beer was cold. If you order the Legursky just know it can feed 4 people. Wife and I shared it. It was like a Philly cheese steak on super thick soft pita. HUGE! The spiral cut potato chips with cheese and bacon are great...dipped in ranch, over the top. Live music was outstanding. Only slight down side was how loud the music was but still good. Great place!
This is the best pizza I've eaten in years! And I'm originally from NYC! The pizza was phenomenal and the sides were great too! They do something with the dough that just is heavenly - it's light and super crispy on the crusts, not heavy at all and not doughy or chewy; just the way I love it. We sat in the pizza restaurant, and the bar next door which is connected was playing super loud live music, which was good, but it was even better that their soundproofing was so well done. You couldn't hear the band from the relaxing restaurant, which provided a lot of appreciated ambiance. If you're within an hour of this restaurant, I highly recommend going out of your way to check it out, it's totally worth it and we will be coming back again next time we pass through WV.
Ok, food was solid, beer is good. Staff all hates each other and complains in front of customers. Food was great but literal quotes "This job is why I hate my life", "if _____ takes credit for my food one more time", "hey did anyone check in on you two and get your order or are they ignoring you like usual". It was awkward. Then we went in the back and music was awesome as well. We did see a young child about 10 years old back there that probably shouldn't have been there at 9:50 PM but to each their own. Food is great but staff despises each other and hate their jobs.
Lack of ownership integrity altered our initial high praise for Calacinos Pizzeria on 28Dec22. After an adventurous day of touring the New River Gorge, my family decided to dine at Calacinos Pizzeria based on reviews. We enjoyed the delicious pepperoni rolls and three different pizzas until my son took a bite into the Meat Lovers slice of pizza and discovered a small black, rock-like, object mixed in the sausage. We conducted a humorous investigation of the small black, pea-size, sharp edged object to identify and not make a big deal about it. We did not intend to leverage this small foreign object for a free pizza; however, the waitress was notified of our discovery. Moreover, we did not eat the remaining slices from fear of breaking a tooth, nor did we want to dissect every inch of Meat Lovers pizza prior to eating it. Upon learning of our son's discovery of the small black object in the pizza, the waitress was apologetic and took the object in her hand to show the owner. She returned shortly with a message from the owner stating that the small black, sharped edged object was Peppercorn. I'm familiar with Peppercorn, the foreign object was not Peppercorn as the owner stated. The non-truth was a logical response from the owner to appease a customer. As mentioned, we were not seeking a free pizza. The owner authorized the waitress to provide a 25% discount on the Meat Lovers pizza. We paid and left. If the owner is willing to compromise integrity over a small thing, what else should customers beware of at Calacinos Pizzeria and Sports Bar?
Was not sure what we were gonna get with this place at first. We were not sure how to even get into the building due to the wierd configuration. The front door is not the main entrance. Luckily the atmosphere service and food we found once we got in and seated was top notch. The waitress was super nice and came to check on us quite often. Our food came out quickly and was super delicious. They have lots of big screen TVs showing a variety of live sporting events. Looks like they do live music sometimes as well. We were there in the afternoon so unfortunately missed that part. This was the best food we had in the area that weekend. So glad we found it.
Great pizza place…..didn’t disappoint! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, she recommended items as this was our 1st time. I would recommend the spinach-artichoke pizza along with the antipasto salad. We will be back next year when visiting….
