Camino Airstrip is a private airstrip owned by the Metropolitan Water District. It is used by MWD to access the Electrical Transfer Station north of the airstrip (Adjacent to I-40 and Water Road). This station splits a power feed from Hoover Dam, and distributes the power to the six pumping stations of the Colorado River Aqueduct completed in the 1930's. The airstrip and the transfer station are usually uninhabited and offer no services commercial or otherwise. Because the power splits in two directions, street legal off-highway vehicles can follow these power line routes southwest or southeast. Unless you are working for MWD, or you have a broken plane, there is no reason to land here.
