We are devoted to reaching our community with the love of Jesus and making a lasting impact in the lives of others.
What We Believe:
Here are the basic essentials about what we believe. A detailed Statement of Faith is available in our church office.
What we believe about God:
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 1:26-27, 3:2; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:13)
What we believe about Jesus Christ:
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 15:34; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 4:14-15)
What we believe about the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He provides the Born Again Believer with power for living, understanding spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. We seek to live under His control daily. The Holy Spirit gives gifts (talents) to each Believer to serve Him, the Church and witness to the world. We believe that God is sovereign in His distribution of His gifts to each member of the Body of Christ. We believe that the sign gifts as spiritual gifts (tongues, interpretation of tongues, miracles, and healing) were primarily designed to authenticate God’s apostolic messengers and to confirm their message. As the Church was established and the New Testament Scriptures were completed, these sign gifts appear less often. We affirm that God will give any gift to any individual anytime He sovereignly chooses. We do not affirm the notion that only those who have sign gifts or speak in tongues have God’s Spirit. Every true Christian has God’s Spirit. All spiritual gifs are to be exercised within the scriptural guidelines. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless.
(John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16, 12:4-11; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Ephesians 4:11-12, 5:8; Hebrews 2:3-4)
What we believe about the Bible:
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (Psalm 12:6, 119:105, 119:160; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
What we believe about People:
People are made in the image of God, and to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This condition separates people from God and causes many problems in life. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a, 59:1-2; Romans 3:23)
What we believe about salvation:
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us from the consequences of sin and to restore our broken relationships with Him, through Christ’s death on the cross. Salvation comes to people on the basis of God’s grace through their faith in Jesus alone. They receive the free gift of forgiveness and are spiritually reborn through repenting of their sin and embracing Jesus as their Savior (sin payment) and Lord (leader of their lives). Good works and a holy life, although totally unable to save anyone is the natural product of repentant and believing people. (John 3:16, 5:24, Romans 3:9-28, 6:23, 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:1-10, Titus 3:38, James 2:14-26, I Peter 2:24, 3:18)
What we believe about Baptism:
We practice baptism of believers by immersing them in water. We do not practice infant baptism. We do not require baptism for church partnership, but believe it is a significant way to publicly declare one’s faith in Jesus. (Mat.28:19-20, Acts 8:35-38, 16:31,33, Rom. 6:3-6)
What we believe about eternity:
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. We believe in the premillennial second coming of Christ which will end the Great Tribulation, and commence His physical, literal kingdom on the earth and reign for 1000 years. (Zechariah 14:4-11; John 2:25, 3:16, 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:1-6, 15)
