A museum is hard to rate in just one visit. I have been to the Canadian War Museum 3 or 4 times now and I still haven't been able to see everything. On top of that, every time I visit, there is a new exhibit that wasn't there the last time! It is really fun and entertaining to be in this museum. If you go on the right days, there are even veterans scattered around the rooms talking about their experience with some of the equipment and campaigns displayed. Everyone is friendly and I encourage anyone that is going to visit to not rush; if you have to go back more than once, you will be thankful because you will get to experience the museum for its entirety, not just a couple of the 'flashy' exhibits.

The museum is very well presented. They touching all periods and topics in a very sensitive but insightful way. We took an 8year old round. Very interactive for her and she was extremely interested. We spent a good 5 hours there and could have spent even longer.

What an incredible museum! So many authentic pieces of history. We weren't sure if we'd go here or another museum and I think we definitely made the right choice! We arrived at 2:30 and just barely made it through for 5:00. The gift shop closes at the same time as the museum which was the only part that was slightly inconvenient as we had to race through it. However, the rest of the museum is well laid out. I was close to tears at multiple exhibits and the vast amount of information is interesting and fun to read. All in all, I would recommend this museum to anyone and would suggest seeing it if you only have a short time in ottawa. A rainy afternoon well spent!

My family and I have been many times over the years since the museum opened at this location and have consistently been impressed with the quality, accuracy, and reverence displayed in the various exhibits. It is clear that modern sensibilities have influenced the exhibits, but in my opinion it the curators have found a fair balance for the most part. Despite the museum being bigger than the previous location, my one complaint is it needs to be bigger still!

An architectural gem fitting for the national treasures it contains. The history of war and Canada's contribution to upholding peace throughout the world are displayed incredibly. You can't possibly experience the entire museum in just one visit, but urge you to take moments of reflection and meditation. The natural setting around the museum contribute to positively to the experience.
