Story

Capitola Physical Therapy was started in 1992 with the idea of delivering personalized service in a friendly setting. Through the past 2 decades we have delivered on that vision with consistent clinical skill and dedication to our professional excellence. Extensive continuing education for our clinical staff is an example of our dedication. Self care programs and home exercises make a foundation for patient empowerment facilitated by manual treatment and careful attention to details of movement.

I took my son for his first physical therapy appointment after a knee injury. We saw Vanessa Diamond. She was excellent. He was reluctant to receive therapy as he is feeling much better and didn’t believe it was something he needed. She was working with a ‘student’ and first listened closely to description of his injury, allowing for the hereditary component of the issue. She watched his gait and ran a few ‘tests’, determining quickly that there are skeletal issues that likely added to knee injury susceptibility and suggested exercises (that didn’t even seem like exercise), pinpointing exactly what each was mean to do to aid in correcting issues. Not including time for paperwork, the time she spent with my son was probably less than 1/2 hour—quick, painless, and hugely informative. Really appreciated her demeanor in working with my teen. I would highly recommend her!

Absolutely wonderful staff! Erica worked with me after a badly herniated lumbar disk. She is very knowledgeable and patient, and knows exactly how to tweak an exercise to reduce pain but increase strength and mobility. I highly recommend both her and the entire staff!

I was referred to Jonathan Holtz at Capitola Physical Therapy in 2013 after a dislocation and fracture of my left shoulder left me with a badly wrecked shoulder and a useless arm. During our first meeting he explained the benchmark goals for the upcoming months of rehabilitation - this gave me understanding and was reassuring. With his years of experience, learned knowledge, intuition, and humor, Jonathan successfully guided my recovery from that injury.

In 2015, Jonathan was also helpful in stabilizing my comfort level for an ongoing arthritis-driven lumbar spine problem. I continue to be grateful for Jonathan and the friendly, professional staff at Capitola Physical Therapy.

I had 8 sessions with Tony del Zompo, and received treatment for not only my knee and arm as assigned by my doctor but also Tony discovered problems with my neck and spine which he worked on additionally.  My arm was completely cured of pain and Tony's got me thinking about and acting on my posture more, improving on everything from how I sit at work to how I get up from bed in the morning.  My knee is a long-term problem that he and I both agreed could not be solved over a limited number of visits, but my arm, neck, and back are all relieved of discomfort.  He coached me on maintaining good posture and preventing future problems, a long-term health investment.  Thanks, Tony, for your effectiveness, professionalism, and knowledgeability.
