Beautiful place to visit both in the winter and in the summer. The area around mess falls makes for gorgeous views both from the car and on foot if your up for a short hike. Several trails in the area that will bring you through think forest to amazing overlooks. Not very crowded even in the summer, but be aware the road closes to cars in the winter, so if you want to see the falls be prepared to walk several miles or bring a snowmobile.

This is our second annual Christmas tree hunt and hike. We had a lot of fun, the only downside was we were limited on time. There are two keys though if you are going to go on a similar adventure. The first is to prepare well with snacks, warm clothing, and whatever else you may need, also don't forget hiking will warm you up a lot especially if your pulling a Christmas tree. The second key is to keep an open mind. The chances of your tree looking like one from a farm are slim to none. So you might have to let go of what a Christmas tree "should look like". If you get that, this is an amazing place to have a Christmas adventute.

I surely did love my stay and the camping and all the happy times, good rivers and sweet flowers. The people were so kind and helpful. We felt well accommodated. I built a fine fire and rested hearty. Beautiful sky and stars and moon. I look forward to returning. I do recommend. Be safe and enjoy. Live large in the West!

Amazing place. Have only been there in winter to visit friends at Island Park, but love the snow on the trees and the snow covered roads. Great for snowmobiling, tubing, or ATVs.

Such a beautiful area accessible easily with a decent SUV or pickup. You're able to go and explore and see things without Rangers breathing down your back worried that you're going to break some obscure rule or policy that has never been written or stated in any other way. I definitely favor the national parks over a place like Yellowstone. Those Ranger said definitely forgotten who pays their salaries.
