Carp Dental is the absolute WORST! Ever since my family started going there, I never had so many horrible experiences and issues. Their staff is rude – Nancy! Then, they talked me into this unnecessary cap procedure to be done with my FRONT tooth which has been nothing short of a nightmare! They gave me a temporary bond and cap which both broke or fell off and every time I tried to call their emergency line to get it fixed, they never called back or the office was closed. I don’t know why they have an emergency line because no one EVER calls you back and they have very inconvenient hours! AND, they apparently charge you a ridiculous amount if you don’t show up to an appointment even though you respond to the text that you cannot make it! I had a death in family and couldn’t make it to my cleaning and received a bill in the mail days later having no idea they charged a penalty fee? Dear Carp, word of mouth and the internet are powerful tools and I will NEVER refer anyone to your practice again! Our family is changing dental practices ASAP!
Carp dental was one of my worst and traumatic experiences I have ever had.The staff and Dr.Carp are polite, but politeness can only go so far if the quality of work is bad. When I originally went back in April of 2015, I already had reservations about seeking dental work because I am a redhead and am sensitive to Novocaine meaning, I can not feel it work well when filling and drilling. Dr. Carp filled in a filling that fell out and he helped me to be at ease. This made me feel better about leaving my previous dentist because he no longer takes my insurance, but is a fabulous dentist.I went back for a cleaning and all went well. I then had to have a cavity filled and an old silver filling removed. First, they had to cancel on me in July, so we pushed the procedure back to August. Not a big deal.Went back in August and Dr. Carp drilled out the cavity and the old filling. I felt a little pain while he was drilling, but it was tolerable. He then left the room to work on another patient and had an EFDA come to fill in the teeth. Right there I knew I was in trouble. EFDA stands for "Expanded Functions Dental Assistant."Someone whom according to the state of PA only needs the following 1.Graduate from an expanded function dental assisting program at a two-year college or other Pennsylvania Board-approved institution which offers an associate degree, 2.They Graduate from a CODA-accredited dental hygiene school, which requires successful completion of 75 hours of clinical and didactic instruction in restorative functions,or 3. Complete a state cert program in expanded function dental assisting with a minimum of 200 hours of clinical and didactic instruction from either a CODA-accredited dental assisting program or a Pennsylvania Board-approved dental assisting program. So therefore, the person who filled my teeth had no more than an associates degree, whilst the dentist knew how sensitive I am to these procedures. The woman filling my teeth was nice, polite, and apologetic. Her physical prowess for my teeth was hard, rough, difficult, and uncomfortable. She had to use a thin blade saw about five or six times to break the seal she created between my teeth. This hurt badly later. She pulled on my lower lip firmly to the point of it being painful. Now being that I am not in the dental field she asked me if, "I could feel the other side of my mouth?" I said yes. What she should have said was, "Do you feel your left side teeth touching each other when you bite." I thought she was referring to the nerves and I could feel my mouth. I left the office numb and Ok. The Novocaine wore off and shortly there after I realized my teeth couldn't touch on my left side. My bite was completely off. I then had to go back into the office later that night to have her take off some of the filling. Two days pass and I am starting to feel Jaw pain. I thought it was from where I was stuck with the needles, it turns out that one of her fillings was done poorly. Sunday evening I woke up in excruciating pain and had to take advil to calm it down after leaving a message for them to call me in the morning. They called me and i told them i have to come back, but it wasn't convenient for me at the times they gave me because of other appointments,so they gave me a spot the next day.PAIN SHOULD BE PRIORITY The pain got so bad by the afternoon I was crying and had to have my father take me that afternoon back to their office inconveniencing me to cancel a prior doctor appointment somewhere else.Carp fixed it.Feels ok,currently, since I am typing this the day after he fixed it,except for one BIG problem the large rough edge that was left cutting the bottom of my tongue to the point of a blister. I can't swallow, can't eat. I even took a picture. I called their emergency line,2x,and no one ever called me back. I said,"forget it"I called my old dentist and said,"When can i come in and i don't care how much it costs?" It's worth it. I will see if he can fix it for good. Advice:Never let an EFDA do a dentist's work.Dentists don't make good money off fillings
Dr Carp is a great dentist. All of the office staff I have worked with are great and always happy!
