Story

The Carriage House Café in Ithaca, New York, is a beautifully restored two-story carriage house with a full-service restaurant on the first floor and an events hall on the second floor, known simply as The Hayloft. Although the original 1850s structure required extensive restoration, a majority of the original material was used in the restorative process. The result is a warm, inviting location, with beautiful details and tremendous character.

THIS. IS. MY. FAVORITE. PLACE. IN. ITHACA. I don't give a lot of 5 star reviews. Even the reviews I give typically have at least one negative. I have no complaints about the Carriage House. After hearing about it, driving past, it and googling the menu countless times...I finally made the trip for brunch one day and have come back almost every weekend since. The cost is a little cringe inducing, but I've tried many many things on the menu and enjoy it every time. It's a splurge place for sure. More than the great food, is the ambiance. The upstairs loft that they've renovated is absolutely gorgeous. They have a wine happy hour from 4-6PM and they always hook it up and make sure you get your moneys worth. This has continually stayed as an Ithaca favorite. I had high hopes the first time I went to the Carriage House and The Loft and they've yet to disappoint. Hopefully the trend continues.

Even though they forgot to put in our order and our food was very late, our waiter was very apologetic and brought out free espresso drinks. The food was very good and the scones were awesome. Coffee has a nice low acid taste. Prices are slightly high but will go back.

Great atmosphere, tasty food. Went for brunch and had a very good omelette and decent home fries (with home made ketchup!). My girlfriend had a really good breakfast sandwich on a scone which was just fantastic.

Carriage house is one of the most charming brunch spots in all of Ithaca. The food is fantastic and created from local and organic products. The coffee service is awesome as well, with a selection of artisan coffee and espresso drinks to choose from, and the servers are always pleasant and professional. My only disappointment is the number of times I could not get brunch there because of the wait! It would be awesome if Carriage House accepted reservations- but if you take the time to call ahead, or you arrive early that problem takes care of itself. I haven't gotten to try their cocktails and evening entertainment yet, but I hope to soon!
