My friends and I were out west in July and we specifically chose to visit here based on videos of the Terror-Dactyl. I had read many reviews that were negative towards the price, which is high, but I'm more than willing to pay a good price if it means that the equipment is up to par; which it is. I will admit, it was more frightening waiting my turn and of course being strapped in. A few colorful words did escape my lips during the initial drop, but my goodness, was that an amazing and memorable moment in my life. The surrounding views were nothing but spectacular, made more so as my companion and I were swung by the winds and offered a 360 view of the canyon. It is over much too quickly, I must say. My only regret is that we were unable to attend the other attractions that were offered, but we have every intention of trekking back sooner rather than later.

I recommend doing the lantern tour!! We had Rob as our tour guide, he was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. I’m terrified of the dark, so the lantern tour was a good challenge for me. All in all it was a really cool experience! We didn’t take any pictures inside the cave to help preserve the cave. I’d recommend doing cave of the winds and the manitou cliff dwellings in the same trip. They are so close to each other and don’t take much time. If you need a close place to eat that’s delicious I recommend Amanda’s Fonda, great Mexican food!

This is a beautiful building with great adventurous add ons. Nice porch with a view and cute merchandise in the shop. I would give it 5 stars except for the cave experience I had. I came just to do the lantern tour and was really looking forward to it. When we got into the dark part of the cave (first you walk quite a distance through the lit portion), the young guide THEN casually informed the tour that we would be climbing through a passage that was 41 inches or shorter for 100 feet!!! I love caves but I started to panic at those dimensions, especially because I’m tall, had a backpack, and our “lantern” was only a candle! The tour guide moved everyone along but I couldn’t go on to the narrow passage so I informed the group and stopped. The group continued on and my family member and I were left alone in the dark!!! The guide never said anything to us. I tried to stay calm and sit in the spot we stopped at and last saw the group because I thought someone might come back to help us, but after many minutes of scary, dark silence, we traveled back to the lit area alone and found a staff member on her way to us. The person who found us, named Joy, was very warm and quickly got us out and refunded our tour. However, I’m mostly embarrassed and angry that they didn’t tell us about the narrow passage in advance. Also, being left alone in the dark cave was very scary and certainly didn’t help my panic. I know that this is probably protocol because the guide couldn’t leave the big group, but she could’ve told us what to expect in an emergency event! I’m surprised we didn’t sign a waiver. Also, at other caves I have visited, they’ve been strict on footwear and made us clean our feet to protect the bats from white nose syndrome, but that issue wasn’t addressed at this cave location

My partner and I took the lantern tour today and it was amazing. John was a fantastic tour guide and the cave was amazing. I was worried about feeling claustrophobic, but the tunnels weren't too long and the open spaces fit our twelve person group just fine. Learning the history of the cave was super cool, and the stories were a perfect mix of funny and creepy. Worth every penny!

The tour of the caves was amazing. Lots of really interesting history and sites. Tour guides give you plenty of opportunities to take pics or you can buy their professional shots. There are some pretty narrow steps where you need to turn sideways, but there are plenty of handrails and the caves are lit inside. Tennis shoes or hiking shoes are recommended for sure. These caves and it's history was featured on a national tv show and the actual tour did not disappoint one bit. The gift shop was great and I highly recommend the bag of "dirt" for kids! You take the bag outside and pan for "gold"!! There were FAR more gems inside the bag than expected and $8 was a bargain for the fun it provided for my granddaughter!! The climbing activities for kids and adults at the entrance are free and pretty cool especially considering the spectacular view! Restrooms are off the gift shop and parking is a short walk to the tour.
