If you like a large selection of meats, fresh breads, fruits and veggies, this is the joint. If you want to leave with your paycheck and all your limbs, just stick to the produce section. Same prices at HEB, but a much wider variety, both organic and not. Meats are high quality, and the prices reflect that, though sometimes there's something on sale that's definitely worth considering. Kind of an eclectic collection of dry goods, and the cheeses are awesome. Beer and wine aplenty to pair, if you like $10 can 6 packs of local craft brews. In short, veggies here, everything else at HEB.

Central Market is a feast for the eyes as well as for the table. CM has the most expansive selection of fruits and veggies I've seen in Austin and at a better price than Whole Foods...much better. They carry very select items like high end olive oil and balsamic vinegars but also have everyday cereals and chips at prices you can easily afford. Great meat and seafood dept, outstanding wine and beer offerings from simply priced to very expensive. A bulk section that has at least 6 different types of rice, over 50 coffee varieties, Spices, nuts, dried fruits, candy/chocolate. A decently sized supplement section with nice people to help you and omg the cheese shoppe is superior...so many delicious cheeses to chooses from it is really hard to decide most of the time. An in house bakery with all kinds of breads, pastries and desserts; fresh muffins and the like daily. A great deli with quality meats and cheeses to make the best sandwiches; oh and some fantastic prosciutto and other anti-pasta offerings as well as smoked salmons for your bagels and shmear. And if you just want to pick something up to eat at home there is an amazing prepared food section with entrees and sides galore as well as soups and a salad bar. And if that isn't enough, then you can go over to the cafe, order something off the menu and eat your dinner inside or out while musicians play for your enjoyment on Thursday evenings and movie nights go on during the summer. Lots of really nice employees around to help you if you need it. My favorite place to shop for groceries hands down.

Central Market was great for a quick family outing. They have a great selection in the store. The playground was nice. The kids loved walking on the trail. There are several turtles in the pond. Great day!

I often go to Central Market to meet with friends while having some food and drinks. They have a very decent menu and the place is great for big groups to get together. When the weather is nice, it's very delightful. It has a lot of parking. I only wished they closed later (currently they close at 10:00) and that they had more covered sitting.

I love Central Market. I wish there was one closer to my home. I had a great patio lunch of a soup and salad that I made myself. It was $13 but in a restaurant you would pay $13 for a salad they made for you without all your favorites.
