Health Sciences Broad Field — Associate in Science Degree (60 credits)

About the Program

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This program provides students a broad base of general education coursework relevant to the field of health sciences, in preparation to transfer to a broad array of health sciences majors at a college or university. This degree program is designed to fulfill health science baccalaureate requirements at all MnSCU system universities offering related degrees.

The degree is designed to transfer to all system universities offering related baccalaureate programs through a statewide articulation agreement. The Health Sciences Broad Field Statewide Articulation Agreement has been approved by all system universities. Even with this agreement, students must consult with both Century college and transfer university counselors/advisors early and often, for guidance and planning regarding the requirements of the various health sciences baccalaureate programs to facilitate the most efficient transition and transfer. Transfer schools and majors in the articulation agreement are listed on the Program Guide.

If I could rate this school with zero stars, I would. PLEASE read reviews of this college before you consider going here. Most reviews are low rated. This school is crooked and cares solely about the profit they make from their students, who they show little respect towards. I will give the teachers a bit of props though. Staff, aside from teachers, that I encountered were disrespectful, lazy, and rude. This school WILL steal your money. I'll share my story and experience that almost landed me in collections and in trouble with the law. In the spring semester of 2017, I had registered in my classes which were online. In the previous semester (fall 2016) I was placed on academic suspension due to "lack of completed credits" in the spring semester of 2016. I had an injury and wasn't able to attend school for a month and had to drop two classes and was able to complete the other one. Due to school policy I didn't complete the percentage of credits as planned so they put me on a suspension. I was able to get this appealed through a very long process over the summer of 2016. Lots of waiting to hear back from staff in the academic offices. And then loads of paperwork that I could've completed in an hour on my own, but it took months due to the schools lack of communication with me. However, I was able to lift my suspension and attend the fall 2016 semester. After completing fall 2016 semester, I went about my life and registered for my spring 2017 classes online as I was transitioning to a new location and didn't have time to go to the actual school for class. Spring 2017 semester began and a few days beforehand, I received an email. AN EMAIL. No phone call and only a few days before semester started. This email stated that I would have to pay out of pocket because my suspension carried over from the previous semester, which was not true because I had it appealed and went to school the fall 2016 semester. So I called the business office and academic office and records office at century college to try and figure out what was going on. This was on a Thursday when I had called. The voicemail box, which will become very familiar to you if you attend this school since no one answers phones during actual business hours, said that I could leave a brief message, which I did, or send an email that they would "respond to quickly" as this was the best method of contact. So after calling, I sent an email stating my confusion as to why I have to pay out of pocket for spring 2017 semester which was a couple thousand dollars. The following week, I started my online courses still waiting to hear back from the email I had sent. Finally, someone emailed me back. She kept reapating herself and it took her a day to respond to each email. I tried calling everyday but still no answer. But they had time to email me once a day. Weird. Anyway, She told me they'd have the academic office head person contact me to resolve the issue. THREE DAYS WENT BY. I NEVER HEARD FROM THIS "lead person". I dropped my classes the following week because I hadn't heard from anyone. A week or so went by and I contacted, through email, the same woman who emailed me the first time and I told her I had dropped my courses so there shouldn't be anymore confusion. She replied stating I owed the school money because I dropped out of my classes past the drop out date. So I was held responsible for all charges on my account which were originally around 2000 dollars and they wanted immediate payment. WHAT?! I replied by email and phone and I was furious. Why do I owe them money for their lack of care and for their lack of timely response to my confusion?! I ended up sending in a 3 page letter as another appeal for my charges which explained the entire story. They replied and said they denied my appeal and I owed them money. Months later I was reported to collections. I ended up in a position of either hiring a lawyer or paying the school money that I was accused of owing due to their mistakes. No college student has this much money laying around. Stay away from Century College.

Taking a course through this college has been the worst experience of my life. My teacher did not teach me anything, along with that she was grading my paper based off of her own opinions and what she wanted to hear. I came here trying to save a few dollars over the summer as I am going to be in college for 12 years. When I told someone about my concerns they agreed with the teacher and told me that nothing will probably be done about it. I should have spent the extra money and went to a real university.

It's a good school, but if you're wanting a serious job and need more experience like in art or graphics and gaming, I'd go for a different school. It's a good school for generals or simple engineering and reading type deals. For me I need more hands on people and professors, not ones where they say you have to do this and need to that/ people constantly telling you what to do instead of letting you be yourself and explore what you want. A lot of the professors are great just some are off their rocker.

Century College has horrible advisors. The advisor told me I didn't need to take certain classes and now I'm graduating late because I DO need to take those classes. Advisors should be A+ because they are very important to a students success. Other than that, some teachers are very nice and helpful.

I haven't enrolled in this school. I wanted to know more about their TMA classes, so I emailed a staff member (that was listed on their website) asking her some straight forward questions about the course. She replied with a link, I did not want a link, I wanted a knowledgeable person to speak to. I called the college to speak with a person and got automatic voice for like 4 minutes after pressing 1 for English, 3 for my reason for calling, 2 for area of study and so on. It was terrible.
