A COMPLAINT AGAINST HESS CREEK BOAT WORKS.   We trustingly bought a boat on consignment there in June 2015 Hess Creek Boat Works owner said it was a friends boat he was selling it for him. Terry Hines owner of Hess Creek said they rebuilt the outdrive, when we test ran the boat on the trailer in neutral all seemed ok. After the sale and dealing with other numerous issues with the boat i.e.: bad battery, horn, running lights that they said were ok and etc., also the trailer which was not set up for that boat, boat weight, style and configuration, and did not have the 'vin' number on the trailer or paper work... after over a month of reconfiguring, talking with other dealers/trailer manufacture we thought finally we were able to take the boat to Anacortes WA to take a trip to the San Juan's. We had the boat slung into the water idled to the assigned slip for the night but above idle there was knocking in the outdrive that you would not want to go above idle. Since we paid for the night, sling in/out, truck and trailer rent we decided to stay in the slip we paid for and in the morning to limp over to the sling to lift the boat on to the trailer.I took the boat to Sea Ray Marine in Fife WA and just got a call from them to tell me how bad the outdrive was. Sea Ray Mechanic said: There was 'NO' Gimbal bearing installed!!! WHAT!, the bearings and top end parts were so over tightened that parts did not want to move. I will have the total list when I pick it up tomorrow but was told the total cost to make it right would be $1076.98 before tax I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST USING THIS COMPANY TO PURCHASE A BOAT OR USE THEM TO DO REPAIR WORK... SCAM COMPANY ! When I called and was dealing with them about the no vin number on the trailer or paper work issue and after the call he thought he had hung up with me but his silly blue tooth head set was still connected to my call at that time he called the owner to say I had called hassling him and expressed questions as to what he thought the exposure would be on them selling a vessel without a vin number...what a joke I heard it all. Shame on me for not confirming the vin numbers on the trailer and boat compared to the paper work or float testing the boat. Shame on them for still being in business. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE STATE OF OREGON SHOULD BE INTERESTED IN THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES.
