The Friends of the Chamblee Library was formed to support and advocate for our library in Chamblee, Georgia, and the DeKalb County Library System.

Story

WHAT WE DO:
Friends raise money through dues and book sales to fund many important services at their local library branches such as: Books and other materials for collection development

Support for vacation reading program
Teen book club
Sponsor children’s performers and programs
Cultural programs
Library equipment and facility improvements

WHO WE ARE:
The Friends of the Chamblee Library is a non-profit group that is committed to family literacy, young adult programs, and community involvement via action and financial support to literacy programming at the Chamblee Library in Chamblee, Ga

Mission

The purpose of this organization shall be to serve as a 501(c)(3) organization that assists the Chamblee Branch of the DeKalb County (Georgia) Public Library System to develop programs to meet current community needs; to assist in promoting knowledge of and participation in library programs; to aid in providing funds to meet special library needs; and to provide a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and services.

Products

We have an ongoing book sale. We accept donations of books, videos and CDs during regular Chamblee Library hours.

Youngsters from the community constantly scour this parking lot for unlock doors. As I was sitting in my car, had one pull the latch on my door to see if it would open. He couldn't see me because of the window tint. I guess they know the cameras are not being monitored at this place. Wow.

Have been going to Chamblee library with my two little ones for almost a year. Today was the second time that I had to deal with the same lady who should not be working in the service industry. The last time I brought back our books she asked me: "What do you want?" when I was waiting for her to check my books in. Today again she didn't bother greeting any of us and then she cursed under her breath as my 3 and 4 year old were playing behind me (quietly). She should not be in a place working with children or working with people - period! I no longer want to go to Chamblee library - will have to look at some other options in the area.

My family and I have been going here for as long as we can remember. Great quiet place to be with your kids and minding your own business. I can say though sometimes​ there are a couple of workers who act like they can't speak, sometimes not all the time. And there is a Chinese looking one that has hard eyebrows and look on her face that never speaks, just looks at you too hard. Other than that very nice place!

Several computers to use. Have a good selection of DVD's and a great area for children to read.

There's a man that works there Saturday mornings, who has a disgusting attitude. It was my first time returning a book to the library and I wasn't aware of the drop boxes they had on the other side. The man opened the door with a less than pleasant attitude, and after an eye roll preceded to say "there's a drop box", i replied "oh where", without even looking at me he snatched the book out of my hand and slammed the door in my face. Horrible experience.
