This is consistently one of our favorite placed in NJ. The atmosphere is very unique and cool. The food is excellent. The meat and potatoes is one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had. Their steaks are always cooked perfectly, and their bearnaise sauce is equally amazing. The service is great as well. The servers are always really eager to please and friendly. We went most recently on the Saturday before Valentine's Day, and they were giving out roses on the way out. It was very cute!

Had a great post Valentine's day dinner at Char and it was wonderful. The oysters we fresh, the cocktails perfect, the steaks to die for. Our server Robert was excellent and the red velvet cake dessert was the perfect ending. Overall it was a great experience.

I went to Char with my boyfriend for our 6 year anniversary, the environment was great, very clean, staff was nice as well. We don't go out much as we have 2 kids and finances are tight, prices were ok for the steak which was phenomenal, sides are good price too but the "death by potatoes" is by far the tastiest and double the price of other sides (so worth it though). All the food was excellent but our steaks were mixed up with the table next to our as well as 2 of our sides. The restaurant was unaware of steak mix up as were we until the neighboring table informed us. The restaurant gave us a free dessert for the sides mix up. All in all, I would recommend this place for tasty food and great staff.

Delicious food but way over priced. I feel like the high prices paid for snooty amenities like throw away cloth towels in bathroom instead of fitting what the food cost. Gorgeous location and friendly staff though

Steak was excellent, however luck of the draw with our seating. We were seated near restrooms where most of the waitresses hung out and talked back and fourth about customers. It felt like they were just standing over us the entire time. One even stated how they received a bad review online and the other waitress chimed in with" dont take it so personal, its the restaraunt getting the review, not you" i think if we had a different seat it would have been a much better experience. Not sure if ill return.
