Cheba Hut Toasted Subs
"Cheba Hut is a "Toasted" sub concept that has been curing munchies since its start in 1998. Founder Scott Jennings decided to showcase the harmony between great tasting food and ... well, a very specific counter-culture. The menu features over 30 signature sub sandwiches, as well as a variety of Rice Krispy treats, salads and munchies. Most locations also offer craft beer bars that feature local beers from neighborhood breweries. We strive to be your go to late night food stop. What really sets Cheba Hut apart, though, can only be experienced in our shops. We combine homegrown food with real people in a relaxed environment. Escape the established."

We haven’t been here in a long time but we will come back again and again. The subs are outstanding. Salads are great! But, they have a great beer selection and the bartender Jacob is the best. He’s super nice and does a great job explaining the specials. I’ve included the specials for the week in the pics below. Staff were super nice. Great food!
They have several sandwiches and each sandwich has its own unique flavors I got the ALB-chronic and also the Acapulco Gold Baltimore have their signature flavors.Food: 4/5
Cannabis is an entire culture here. Very good food. Nicest staff. Clean restaurant. Highly recommend. I had the Chronic BBQ roast beef sandwich and garlic bread.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
Extremely disappointing. My daughter and I had lunch or tried to have lunch here today it was terrible from customer service to food. We ordered our food around noon on a Tuesday it was not too busy. Our food order took a little over an hour before we received, we were starving by the time we got our food. When the server brought our food I noticed the size of mine immediately I tried stopping her & said "excuse me" as the server quickly walked away she did not acknowledge us at all. I walked up to the register waited for one of the 6 employees behind the counter to help but not one did. An employee sitting at a table with other guests, walked up to me said "what's up, did you need something" I explained that I ordered an 8 inch not a 4 inch sandwich. He began to look up our order, then told me well you only got charged for the 4 inch, I can have them make another 4 inch but they're really busy & it'll take at least 30 minutes to make. He made me feel like I was being an inconvenience so I told him that's okay I'll just eat what I got & if I'm still hungry I will just get food from somewhere else he said "okay". I sat back down ate my sandwich because I was so hungry at that point after waiting for so long. My daughter was eating her sandwich then she looked at me "omg mom look" she had a bug crawling in the middle of her sandwich. I could not believe! I grabbed her basket of food walked back up to counter same employee said "what's up"again I told him there's a bug in my daughter sandwich he quickly got up asked if I wanted a refund I said yes please. Then he told me at that point that they were making me another sandwich I told him no thanks I'm not hungry anymore. We left immediately. To be honest my sandwich had no flavor at all it was very bland & the service from the server ignoring us to even the bartender too that walked right past us multiple times basically looking the other way on top of everything else, this was a terrible experience & beyond disappointing.
After a 2nd time with bad experiences, I thought I'd finally review. Very disappointed because I loved this place! My last two experiences were not good. Both phone orders. My take out order had really brown avocado. 2nd bad experience was when picking up my order. I was told it would be ready in 15min. I waited an additional 15 min to even ask. Over 30 minutes for one sandwich and I was treated like a jerk for wanting my order. They obviously knew it was me waiting but decided to yell across the restaurant at me when there was no one else waiting. I thought it was very rude! I did not think I was being unreasonable after waiting 40 minutes. I hope the other locations are not like Ellison one.
All types of delicious toasted subs with a big variety of flavors, friendly staff, fun atmosphere, quick service, craft beers, and soda. I ignored this place for years when I first moved here due to the overt stoner vibes and restaurant chain consistency, but have been kicking myself ever since being dragged to try it with a friend. Their fresh in-house bread is key, as well as their seasonings & sauces, to really make each sub deliciously enjoyable. There are so many combinations of flavors using different meats and fresh veggies and sauces that sometimes it can take a while to decide what to get. The sandwiches do really come out different, unlike other sub places, that it makes it easy to return on a frequent basis and not get tired of the food at all.
Have only been there three times in the past almost two years and I can tell you the sandwiches are excellent. Atmosphere or so so. But then again I'm a senior and this place is definitely a younger crowd. We'll go back for the sandwich plus you can have a beer.Food: 5/5
Subs were good, vibe and ambiance was cool, loved the music, and the staff was pretty friendly. However, I was not happy with the service. We only ordered 2 subs and there was one couple in line in front of us it took 30 minutes to get our food. Other than the long wait not a bad place for a sit down meal.
Love the sandwiches. My review isn’t 5 stars because I was looking forward to having lunch there today, and when I entered they said they were closing in 10 minutes for their holiday party, so I asked to order to-go and she said it would be 15 minutes before the sandwich would be ready. So I was unable to get any food. They should have locked their doors and put a sign up if they weren’t going to serve people. I know the rule in customer service is that even if someone walks in the minute before you close, you still have to serve them. Zero stars for bad service.
Best sandwiches to be found, and that's without being high Mon! The sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients and toasted to perfection. The have some nice beers on tap. Must be a nice place to work, all the employees were enjoying themselves. Will return soon to try a BLT with honey bacon and Sriracha sauce!
