Great local Mom n Pop Chinese Food, Lunch Buffet is the ticket

I'm not a fan of this Chinese restaurant at all. I haven't had the buffet in over 10 years but did order takeout last week for the first time since then. The chicken egg roll barely had any vegetable filling let alone a single piece of chicken. Their egg drop soup is very thick, mostly corn starch broth and not enough egg. I don't think their meat is very good quality. The pork lo mein had pieces of pork that had bright pink/red spots which I've seen in other restaurants like it's leftover from another dish. The pepper steak was mostly onions with a few pieces of green pepper and what little beef present was stringy and fatty. The sweet and sour sauce tasted too much like ketchup and the chicken chunks were dry. The price is average. Maybe I got served on an off day or something but I won't try again.

Only had their buffet and seemed most of the food was on the older side. Not a fresh buffet option for dinner. Unable to comment on their fresh order or take-out options.

Very healthy and delicious food that has helped me to lose 100lbs in a year.  This restaurant is Pittsburgh's best kept secret that needs to go public. I hardly give my five star rating out but Chef Chen's has earned my highest praise.
