Story

With hospitals and clinics covering Nebraska, southwest Iowa and north Kansas, CHI Health combines the strengths of those facilities and the expertise of health care professionals who are working to build healthier communities, into one integrated health system.

CHI Health is made up of nearly 15,900 employees, 15 acute-care hospitals, an academic medical center, Level I trauma center, two freestanding inpatient psychiatric facilities, a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) certified rehabilitation center, an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified burn center and two networks of multi-specialty clinics with nearly 200 locations in Nebraska, southwest Iowa and northern Kansas.

Took my dad there for mild dehydration. He was staying overnight. The nurse gave him a double dose and all his medications at one time, last time my father ate a whole pudding. If they never crushed an extended release medication even though I argued with her. His blood pressure dropped, and after a transfer, they wouldn't let me feed him for 3 days. He might still be here. I am heart broken. When you have an option go to UNMC.

I called this location regarding a serious situation and was the most convenient location for us, told my situation and was transferred 4 times and ended up at Lakeside Hospital which is over 1/2+ hour away. Did not understand why I was sent to this other hospital for this situation in the first place when Papillion could take care of us. I could not believe of the response that I got from Lakeside Hospital just now about this serious situation and got no where. Was transferred 4 times to two different hospitals. Unbelievable.

I am never going to this hospital ever again. I took my 11 month old son here to the ER as his diarrhea kept getting worse, he eventually stopped eating, and didn't pee at all in 24 hrs. I got the bill from last month when we took him. I have to now pay $1100 (after insurance) for basically them telling me to dehydrate my son during the 4 minutes the doctor spent with us after waiting a half an hour for them. They told me to stop feeding my son formula and to give him pedialyte AFTER I told him the only thing he'll take is formula and then the doctor just left. We spent most of the time being bothered by workers trying to get all our financial info correct. They were so concerned about getting all our info that they would bother us while waiting for the doctor in the room. On top of that, a lab worker randomly came in, took our testing tubes (that we were given from a nurse) and attempted to fill them with the tiny bit of poop that was in the diaper and not already absorbed. (This was after we were told to fill the tubes on our own when there was enough poop to scoop). I told this worker there wasn't enough to fill to the line so we were gonna wait a bit. The worker went ahead and attempted anyways. Sure enough by the time we got home which was 2 minutes away I had a voicemail from that lab worker saying they couldn't test the poop because they didn't have enough poop. I would have felt a lot better paying $1100 had the doctor spent more time listening and telling me something I didn't already know. Thanks CHI for dehydrating my son more in the end, not listening to your patients, and taking the time to get my money. Horrible.

NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!! My 4 year old son split his lip open, playing baseball. We rushed to CHI Midlands ER on Hwy 370 & 84th because it was the closest ER per Google Maps (we are new to the area) I presented my Insurance card to the receptionist at check in and filled my paperwork out to the fullest (this will be an important factor later) as I work in medical reception and billing, and know the importance of detailed information. We then sat in the waiting room (we were the ONLY people there) for over an hour! The nurse called us back, took vitals, the Dr examined him and told us that we needed to take him to Children's Memorial Hospital to be seen by a Children's Plastic Surgeon. We then drove to Children's Memorial Hospital where he was seen by the on duty ER Dr, who informed us that, it was our decision, but that there really was no need to be seen by a plastic surgeon for a split lip and that the cost would be significantly larger. The Dr at Childrens then stitched his lip, everyone at Childrens Hospital was great and he is now healed up with minimal scarring. Back to CHI Midlands.....it is now 7 months after the initial ER Visit and CHI Midlands is STILL sending me a bill (even though my insurance has already paid the claim in full). On the day of the visit the receptionist (who I handed my insurance card to) did not even enter my insurance information into the CHI computer system, so the bill was processed as "No Insurance". Then I called there billing company and provided them with my insurance information. The Billing Department then submitted my insurance to BCBS of Nebraska, even though I made a point to tell them to NOT do this, because our BCBS is based out of Alabama, and I told them that they CANNOT just submit it to their "local". another bill later..... I call them back and explain the entire situation to yet another representative who insures me that she will "resubmit" the claim to the correct BCBS. another bill later.....I call AGAIN and this time they never "resubmitted" the claim and gave me the excuse that it was an "internal error". another bill later..... I call again and this time the representative tells me that it is "being processed" and to disregard the bill until the claim is fully processed...... 7 months later and now they are sending me a FINAL NOTICE BILL. I contact my insurance who provides me with copies of fully processed and paid claim to CHI MIDLANDS and now my insurance is taking the matter into their own hands, because they showed me that CHI Midlands submitted claims for an ER Visit code and for a Procedure code, and I informed them that absolutely NO PROCEDURES were performed in the CHI facility because the DR HIMSELF TOLD US TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
