I graduated with my MSW in 2016. Overall, I felt it was a decent program. The classes for concentrations (children/family, school, community, mental health) were superior to the general core classes. I had professors that were working in their communities and were able to translate their practices into classroom work. My main issues were with the internship program and the core classes. As someone that has been involved in the social services field for a long time, I did not find my 1st internship all that helpful. I had to complete 450 hours of free labor for "basic" internship to help me understand the social work field. My second internship was more helpful. But be advised in my experience the field placement office for internships is not all that helpful. The core classes were painfully simple. If anyone took an Anthropology 101 during undergrad, that's basically what two of those classes are. Final point. I do believe, I benefited from this program. But JACSW can definitely stand to improve.

The people they employ write and publish articles are pure extremism, and show that they clearly should not be teaching at all. Please think twice about allowing your children to come here.

I graduated in May of 2017 with my MSW from the Jane Addams College of Social Work. The program, much like most things in life, is what you make of it. For those who are determined to learn, there is a wealth of knowledge waiting for you. For those who are determined to cut corners, there is definitely an opportunity to earn the "C" necessary to receive a diploma. Every institution has areas for improvement, JACSW included. Taking everything into account, JACSW met my expectations. In my experience, the college is receptive to issues raised by students and actively works to improve the program content and structure. I would recommend the MSW program.

I just graduated from here with my MSW and even had Patricia O'Brien as a professor. She is absolutely a feminist, but is certainly not man hating. It seems as if most people complaining in this review section have left their comments without actually reading the article that Professor O'Brien wrote. I had amazing professors at JACSW and was continually inspired by them, my classmates, and everyone else I met through JACSW either as a guest speaker or field instructor. If you're considering this school, please search beyond the Google reviews. It is rated in the Top 50 MSW programs by multiple sites. These reviews have been taken over by conservative, whiny, man-babies who think they're oppressed because a woman has dared to conduct research and write about it in an article that I'm sure most of them didn't even bother to read.
