It's a buffet and my expectations of a buffet are fairly low due to food being prepped and cooked before I get there, a revolving door to let bugs in, and people standing over the same food. But I never had a problem at this buffet. This is probably one of a few buffets in the city that I have never seen a bug cooked or laying in the food. We went during a lunch rush before catching a movie behind the restaurant. The food was hot, fresh, and they were bringing out fresh pans of food out as soon as one dish got low. There is always a large selection of dishes from peppered chicken/beef, seafood delight, fried shrimp, wings, crawdads, and a salad/dessert bar. Everything was good on that Sunday afternoon. Don't get me wrong, I have been here during slow days & you can tell food has been sitting there a lil while. Like most buffets, choosing when to go can affect your experience.
We eat here quite often and have had no noteworthy complaints, but this time however, my 4 year old said her drink didn't taste good so we checked it and it was orange Fanta but it tasted soapy and there was something frozen into a piece of ice that was in it. I got the ice out and put it on the lid and tried to show my waitress and she said she would check into it but was dismissive and walked off and ignored us till we had to go to the front and get them get our check. I asked for them to just take the drink off because she didn't even drink it and there was clearly something in the ice, plus the taste. They refused, then told my MIL she couldn't take a ice cream out of the restaurant when they previously didn't have a problem with it any time we had been there before. All that, then the lady at the register asked to see the pic I took, she grabbed my phone out of my hand and took a step back with it. And she questioned if it was on the lid or in the ice, but I showed the waitress and it was for sure in the ice.
I recently visited China Flag restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It was better than I had expected and quite tasty. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. However, the restaurant itself left something to be desired. It was rundown and dirty, with visible stains on the wall next to our table that seemed to have been there for some time. Despite these issues with cleanliness, I would still recommend China Flag for the food alone, as long as you can overlook the dirty surroundings. If the restaurant were to put more effort into maintaining a clean and inviting atmosphere, it would definitely enhance the dining experience.
The worst experience today. The place has lots of baby high chairs that are broken. The waitress removed the sugar bags that my daughter was playing. I told the cashier probably the owner when I checked out about the safety issue of this high chairs and they need to be replaced because my one year boy almost fall from it, she could not care less and said they tried to fix those high chairs and they kept to be broken by the kids. She then said my boy was too playful so that he almost hurt himself from the high chair. I had good intentions to tell her to replace those broken high chairs to avoid future legal issues involving baby being hurt. That is the answer she gave me. I just checked out and left. It was a waste of my time to talk to her. The truth is my boy never had this from other decent restaurants like Olive Garden or Outback Steak House. I Sincerely suggest everyone with babies not to go there just to be safe for your babies.
I've heard of bars putting extra salt on peanuts or popcorn but I'd swear the crab legs tasted like a chunk of a salt lick. Most items seemed unremarkable average but hot. Didn't have anything from the salad bar or sushi bar Best part of meal was the pre packaged ice cream that cost extra if you do carry out. Staff came to my table 3 times to remove plates but not once did anyone offer to refill my drink. Water with lemon. Don't forget no refill equals no tip...
Went to eat with my dad, our waiter was a grouchy, older woman, and she never brought us any other drinks, I never cleared any plates, didn’t check up on us at all, but then had the audacity to walk over while we’re still eating to see how much I tipped her, which was zero, and pitched a fit in front of us, walked away and pitched a fit to the people upfront. Kind of unprofessional to expect a tip, and then throw a fit when you don’t get tipped for standing around
Chinese buffet, what more can one say. Not much can beat fresh cooked food, but you certainly can eat your fill when it's all you can eat buffet. Probably one of my favorite Chinese buffet in Shreveport, other than Imperial Wok, though they are a bit more expensive. Generally wouldn't recommend going for dinner, as the prices are much higher per person, and the food is mostly the same. The sushi is un-edible quite frankly, it uses way too much rice, like twice the amount that any particular roll should ever have or need. The hibachi option is nice though, and probably the best bang for your buck, though you will have to wait to get your food while the rest of your party eats from the standard buffet. Desserts here are a joke, most of them too dry to be edible. But for about ten dollars a person not including drink, the food quality and unlimited quantity is right for the price. Though I will say that one rude thing I've seen happen more than once was the person who checked us out soliciting for a tip. When paying with a credit card they wouldn't have a way of knowing if we left cash on the table or not, and I always tip my servers very well based on the service. To be guilted or told to leave a tip on my card just because they assume I didn't is a rather bothersome attitude to have! Specially considering that table service here only refills drinks, they don't bring your food to you or take your order. That and once they decided that you've have enough they drop off the check and more or less ignore you unless you go out to find someone and specifically ask them to refill your drink. Sheesh!
On the buffet they have signs that say ages 10 and under needs to be with an adult which is great. The problem I had was the man standing over me while my 10 year old child tells me what he wants, that is extremely rude. What's even more rude is to stand over people when they eat they did that to everyone. When it was time to pay I asked why it was $25.60 for an adult buffet a child buffet and a child drink, the lady was so rude and nasty and told me she called the police on me because I can't pay. I never said I couldn't or wasn't going to I wanted her to explain the prices. Due to my child being present I paid and left instead of making a scene.
Great Visit! Food was Hot and Fresh!
Fresh food, great hibachi, waitstaff was attentive. Nice crowd there, ready to go back. Sushi bar if that's your thing.Food: 5/5
