Conceived in thought in 1902 and incorporated on November 4th, 1904, Church of the Wayfarer is nestled in the quaint town of Carmel, California on the corner of Lincoln and Seventh, just across from Doris Day's Cypress Inn.
The Church attracts visitors from all over the world.
You may come to Carmel to enjoy the shopping, eclectic restaurants, and plentiful recreation on the Monterey Peninsula. You'll also find historic Church of the Wayfarer and it's beautiful outdoor gardens and stone benches as a welcome and inviting part of your journey.
Meander along Ocean Avenue, then head south on Lincoln for a short block and you'll find a little bit of heaven on earth at Church of the Wayfarer. During the day the front doors of the church are open, beckoning you inside to explore the charming sanctuary and magnificent stained glass windows.
Be sure to leave a note on the giant journal, waiting for you just through the main door. You are welcome to come inside to see the beautiful carved paneling, enjoy the altar flowers and the beautiful cross, and relax in a pew while you reflect on your day.
If your plans allow you to be in Carmel on a Sunday, please plan to join us for our service from 10am - 11am. Stay after the service for light food and beverages in the Garden Room.
And don't worry about being "The Only One"...visitors attend Church of the Wayfarer Sunday Service every week. You also don't need to worry about getting dressed up. If you like to put on your Sunday best, that's fine. You're just as welcome in your jeans.
In town with your pet? Pets are welcome at the Church anytime, including Sunday worship service. Big or small, bring them all....as long as they are well behaved!
Children are always welcome at Church of the Wayfarer. Sunday nursery care is provided for the wee ones. Older children usually attend the first part of the service because there is always a special "Children's Message", then they can either stay for the service or attend Sunday School.
