Story

Colleton State Park is a 35acre state park located along U.S. Highway 15 between St. George and Walterboro, South Carolina, United States. One of the smallest state parks in the South Carolina, Colleton's main attraction is recreational access to the Edisto River in the form of paddling or fishing. Several campsites for RVs and tents as well as some team-sport recreation facilities are also located in the site. For many years, the park was underutilized due in part to an adjacent SCE&G coal-fire power plant, which discouraged many potential visitors from the park. The power plant was closed by SCE&G at the end of 2012. Local officials hope to potentially acquire the site and expand the park.

Only stayed the night on our way back north from Florida, but what a great park! One of the cleanest state parks we've visited. Friendly, dedicated and hard working Rangers and Camp Host. Will definitely return when we have more time to kayak and explore.

Clean and exquisitely maintained. Great park rangers. The river is great fun for swimming or kayaking with lots of natural beauty. Walterboro isn't far away if you want to eat out or buy serious supplies. A few sites, like ours, are moderately close to US-15 (2-lane highway), but we were never once bothered by it. At night there is almost no traffic on that road. We got a site close to the highway because we have dogs and didn't want to bother anybody.

Shady but open campsites. Enjoyed tubing and sitting in the sandy bottomed river while the current flowed by. A cool place to be on a hot day. Our drive through site was almost level, had 30Amp electric and water. Dump station was convenient and well designed. Staff was helpful. Easy to do from I-95.

We were walk-ins, 5 minutes before closing but staff was very nice and gave us a spacious place and easy to get into. Campground is maintained very well. Loved it.

Quite quaint and amazing. The park is small but has river access for swimming and canoeing. All the sites are shaded and not on top of each other. Very pretty. The Ranger is very friendly and helpful.
