Great place for camping. But need to be more careful while boating, as the lake has a lot of tree stumps peaking out.

Nice Campsites. Bathrooms were clean. Loved that the state park has a playground for children. Boating and fishing was fun. We saw several deer at the park. A family favorite!

If Santee State Park was our first state park to camp at we would NEVER camp at another South Carolina state park. The bathrooms were filthy, the rangers were worthless, no patrols, no gate for the campgrounds, they allowed a homeless person to sleep on a picnic table under a shelter, behind a children's playground for about 24 hours even after complaints. The whole time were here watched other campers leaving way past the check out time of 12:00pm. I'm talking pulling out at 7:00pm, the rangers didn't come by to say ANYTHING to those campers. We were a little after 12pm and a ranger came to tell us checkout time is 12pm. My husband told her we were about to pull out. Her response was, ok, I'll be back in a bit to check ( hateful tone ). I do NOT recommend Santee State Park at all!!!!!! Oh, the plus was the fishing, that's it!!!!! The funny thing is South Carolina is promoting the state parks by having the Ultimate Adventure, so people will visit/camp, yet they allow crap like this to go on with the rangers. NEVER again will we stay at this state park!!!!!!! If you're doing the Ultimate Adventure, just get your stamp and leave. Btw.....the camp store is nice, but terribly over priced compared to other South Carolina State Parks.
