I had great experiences for both things I had to accomplish. I was able to get my dual nationality/Mexican birth certificate((acta de nacimiento)) through my parents. This process takes about 3 visits. One to submit paperwork(I went without an appointment and got there as soon as the consulate opened, they only give out a certain amount of tickets), a scheduled appointment for more forms etc, and one to pick up the birth certificate. I was also able to get my Mexican Passport recently as well and this requires one appointment and you get your passport the same day. You can find the required documents you will need to take by reading online, make sure to have them or you will have to go back again when you have them. I was also able to buy original copies of my parents Mexican birth certificates at the consulate which is a required document for some of the services. You can schedule appointments online easily, I found that the appointment scheduling system only worked weekdays. Get there early , parking can be bad at times.

I honestly feel really bad for anyone that needs to file for any type of paperwork here. This place is a small hell on earth! The staff is very rude and unprofessional. They have no idea what customer service is, they make a BIG deal out of anything and they WILL send you back home if you don't have things done exactly how they want them. I'm almost sure it isn't even this bad in Mexico. Why even have people make "appointments" if they're not going to be available at the time of your "appointment"? But even with an appointment, or not, be prepared to wait easily 3 hours to get anything done here and if you get there before noon or 1pm be ready to be sent home because they will not help you anymore. I am so glad we finally got done with our letter of power after filing for it since January. I hope I NEVER have to step foot in this building again!!!!

When getting a car permit to travel to Mexico, make sure you make an appointment prior, and you have all required forms. The person in charge issuing the permits, very rude and impatient, make sure not to feel intimidated, and ask all the questions you need to ask to feel confident in what you are doing, if you feel disrespected, make sure to report her to the consulate. It's very sad how she treats people Good luck!

I hate this place they are rude and if you bring in all the paper work they tell u to bring. They still tell you that you don’t have the right paper work I have been there four times and all those times I haven’t been able to get what I need because everytime I go they need something different and u can never make an appointment because they end up hanging up on you...
