Awesome campground! Great views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island in the distance. Plenty of hiking in the hills opposite the ocean as well. We had site 51, the northern most site of the row closest to the ocean. You can walk 15 minutes down to a tunnel that goes under hwy 1 to the beach. There were very few people out on the beach when we were there. The best thing about the campground is that you can walk down to the beach, then 1.5 mi. up the soft sand to the Historic Crystal Cove beach town, and to the Beachcomber restaurant. The food, beer and cocktails were great! The only reason for 4/5 and not 5/5 stars was a VERY loud group of kids/20-somethings that partied all night until 4am. Not necessarily the campground's fault, but it is lacking on privacy/rule enforcement. I'm sure there are quiet hours. $50 per night is steep for camping too, but worth it for the views and beach accessibility.

Great views and well maintained. The native vegetation has matured... much more private now compared to a few years ago. Unlike most state parks in California this location does not offer early check-ins. They are quite strict with their rules and will ask you to either park and wait or drive away and come back later

We went to the beach at Crystal Cove and had a great time. There were nice bathroom facilities and it was relatively uncrowded. We were near a cliff face at one end of the beach. The beach was fairly clean but had a number of bees washed up on the sand. Many of the bees were alive so you had to look down as you walked to avoid stepping on them.

Our favorite place to camp. Difficult to get in because of its popularity, But wonderful overlooking the ocean, And in the Spring there are lots of pretty flowers blooming with their native to California plants. Very good hiking trails as well.

We loved camping there. Spent 4 nights there. You could walk right down to the ocean. Camping in tent, listening to the waves at night is AWESOME! I would totally go again!
